Oh yes well done.
You guys cannot take away the fact that he convincingly defeated the main man in the division.
You say he was past it with hindsight, and looking back it is clear that father time caught up with Kostya, but so what? Who thought Hatton would win before the fight?? I didn't. Same as I think PBF would do Hatton.
Hatton tops the division. Ok he has boxed some turkeys, but who hasn't? You compare Cotto, and PBF as if they are hard done by. I bet they have both made considerabley more money than Hatton.
Like it or not he is the number one at 140lb.
And for gods sake, please just check Phillips record as you are wrong again. He's never been stopped inside 2 rounds, or one as you said earlier. And the Pinto fight was not SD. Get your facts right, and honour your bets.

Floyd will probably make more money in his next fight than Hatton has made in all his fights combined!
However, the fact remains that Hatton is looking for low risk ventures and now has the chance to fight floyd but wants "two warm ups". Translation: two more bums to pad the record and give him money for low risk.
As a boxing fan, how can you condone that mentality?
yes, but many believe that with so little activity in the last 3 years at age 35...kostya was ripe for the taking!! that was ESPECIALLY obvious to anyone who saw how much trouble kostya had with faded james leija in 1/03!!!dookus wrote:Ohhh, I rather believe it does when the fighter is Kostya Tzsyu. Floyd isn't even available you prick, how's he supposed to fight Floyd when Floyd is already fighting against Judah? Ricky has already made several million pounds in his career mate, he was earning very nicely even prior to the Tszyu fight, I seem to recall a figure of between £250,00 - £500,000 per fight, and that's pounds not dollars.
Floyd has only featured on ONE PPV to date, and that was against Gatti he's not going to earn more in one fight than Hatton has in his whole career, that's clearly bollocks as Hatton has probably earnt in the region of about 15 million dollars so far if not more. Didn't he earn around 5-6 million dollars for his last fight alone?
Phillips was KO'd in K1 because he broke his shin bone, how in fucks name is that relevant to anything?

You have some balls making posts like this after what you have done. WORM.lirva33 wrote:I don't expect much input here because most people here are Hatton nuthuggers and will not even acknowledge criticism.
I will start at 2002,
Hatton fought against Stephen Smith and joe hutchenson towards the end of 2002. Smith was nothing more than a joke and had LOST to a 135 pounder. Hatton decided to fight him instead of Witter.
hutchensons claim to fame was cutting Arturo gatti. Whoop de doo. Hatton enjoyed pounding into submission.
In 2003 hatton promised a great year "we're going to go for it", but predictably failed to deliver. An ancient Vince Phillips was beaten in manchester in a disgraceful match. Hatton got him at the end of his career.
Next up was a lightweight by the name of Aldo Rios. Hatton, who could be described as a bully for the amount of lightweights he has feasted on, once again pounded his hapless oponent. Was it too much to ask for hatton to fight at least a 140 pounder? Witter was available.
Finally, to round off 2003 hatton foughts Ben "punch bag" tackie. Tackie had been beaten and lost every round vs Tszyu and mitchell also gave him a hiding. Still, this was a step up after the likes of Rios and hutchenson. Hatton won the match. This rounded off 2003, a year that Hatton said he would hit the big time.
Hatton once again exclaimed that he would become a world champ thyis year. Perhaps he meant that he would continue to hold the wbuseless belt? He started off 2004 in dreadful fashion by taking on yet another lightweight (who had campaigned at super feather) Dennis holbak pederson. Hatton was due to fight Pinto but when pinto ruled himself out WITTER put himself forward. Hatton, in yet another act of a BULLY, would rather fight against a lightweight. Disgraceful.
Next up was a pathetic fight against another no hoper Carlos Wilfredo Vilches. Vilches had lost 4 times and was given a thourough hiding by Sharmba Mitchell a few months previous. This was a year in which Hatton exclaimed that he would "go for it". Did he mean, go for no hopers?
By this stage people were on Hattons case bigtime. Actually, people were on his case from the stephen Smith fight. He had refused to fight WItter for years. Witter proceeded to call him out. When he fought vilches, SHARMBA Mitchell fought on the undercard giving a good hiding to joke stewart. Mitchell was willing to come to manchester but Hatton wasnt interested in the fight and instead decided to fight Stewart. now, this as a"final eliminator" etc (as was Vilches), but hatton could have went for Mitchells belt instead. instead he decided to once again fight a no hoper and take the easy touch.
Another disgrace.
if you thought that was a disgrace, then Hattons last match of 2004 must have appaled you. Ray Oliviera had previoously retired on american television and had said publically that he couldn't make 140 pounds and hadn't made it for 3 years. hatton decided to make him weight drain himself. The old man was given a good hiding by a dubilant hatton to close of 2004, another year that Hatton said he would "go for it". He must have meant he would go for bums.
In 2005 hatton FINALLY signed to fight Tszyu. At the time, I didn't realise that Hatton had nowhere to go. he HAD to fight Tszyu now or be labled as an absolute joke. He was seen as a joker in america, a guy who wouldn't step up if he was paid. He held off the tzyu fight until he had the absolute best chance of beating him and he did. I give hatton credit for beating tszyu. I may think he used too much illegal tactics that he wouldn't have gotten away with in a US ring, but the fact is he won.
Then he fought Maussa who had been clubbed by Cotto and beat harris in his previous fight. Harris had weighed 134 pounds on the scales (I have had confirmation from someone who was at the weight in). Hatton was given a tough time by Maussa.
Now contrast it with Cottos resume.
18th fight, Maussa gets a hiding.
20th fight, lovemore ndou gets beaten.
22nd fight, Bailey (a dangerous puncher) goes down.
23rd fight, Corley beaten in 5
24th fight, Abdullaev gets a beating
Contrast it with Mayweathers resume
18th fight, Hernandez given a hiding for the 130 pound championship.
19th fight, angel manfredy obliterated
24th fight, augustus given a hiding
25th fight, Corrales (who many picked to beat floyd) beaten easily.
26th fight, Carlos hernandez beaten up
27th fight, jesus Chavez takes a hiding and gets stopped.
28th fight, (steps up and fights the best 135 pounder in the world) castillo loses
29th fight, beats castillo in a rematch.
31st fight, ndou given a hiding
32nd fight, steps up to 140 and beats Corley who is better than anyone hatton had beaten until htszyu in mid 2005.
34th fight, Gives Gatti a hiding, who would beat anybody on hattons record bar Tszyu.
35th fight, steps up to 147 (formerly a 130 pounder) and gives Mitchell (who hatton faced stewart rather than fight) a good beating.
QED
Pay the bet it was never called off get real you lying C U N T.
If you can't afford it on your £5 an hour dead end job just say the word.
Yes Hatton has been carefully managed and not fought some of the names we would have hoped but at the end of the day he's 27 years old still with plenty of time in his career, 40-0 and WBA and IBF world champ in one of the best weight divisions. Very rarely in a dull fight although they might not be 50-50 affairs he does have a style that's friendly on the eyes.
In his next fight he goes against the champ at 147 and when he promises he will meet Floyd I believe him. Eubank and Benn never fought Toney, Jones, Nunn etc, Calzaghe has never fought anyone, Naz avoided Marquez etc. I believe we're lucky to have Ricky. He fights regually, comes across as a nice guy and is regarded as the champ at his weight. Some people are never happy unless they are moaning about somebody or making bets they have no intention of paying I guess...

A Hatton fight is definitely not on Mayweathers agenda anyway, he wants DLH after Judah doesn't he?
The time Mayweather offered to fight Hatton it was before Mayweather had even established himself at the weight or even appeared on PPV and he had no title to offer. It was also before Hatton had beaten Tszyu or won a title. If I was Hatton at that moment in time I wouldn't of wanted that fight either, Floyd wasn't as big as he is today and he was a huge risk for no reward.

Precisely, now that Mayweather has 'proven' himself the man with wins over C-class Gatti and Bruselles, and a shopworn Mitchell, he seems to have little interest in anything more than slagging Hatton off from afar, whilst taking on Judah instead for a nice fat payday, (it's Judah who has taken the massive purse cut, Mayweather is still earning 3 million dollars) so until such time as Mayweather actually goes looking for Hatton there's really no call to criticise Hatton.
Looks like there's an injunction hearing on February 21st regarding the Soulemayne MBaye sueing of the sanctioning body, no doubt with the aid of SN legal brief.

It's harsh to criticise DLH in the same way you are criticising Hatton. DLH fought everybody out there except for Kostya and that was because KT was beaten by Phillips in the build up to their fight. People can say they what they like about DLH but he was still a top fighter who took risks by taking on tough opponents. Trinidad was not given to him on a plate. Neither was Mosley, nor Hopkins, and I don't think Mayorga is either.Phenomenal-Nutrition wrote:Hattons a Gent, decent bloke, great pressure fighter, great chin, great workrate, decent speed and I find him likeable
But for the same reason I dislike Delahoya I don't like Ricky Hatton. Hes had everything given to him on the plate just like the golden boy. While other fighters would jump at any contender opportunity Hatton has managed a very LOW RISK career (yes Hatton did avoid Judah, Corley, Witter, Harris, Mitchel and of course PBF - not saying he couldnt beat any of them but Ricky wants low risks make no mistake). Yet everyone claims he wants the best - urm no he wants the lowest risk fights that make him look good. And he won't give other top fighters a decent payday (ie Witter) and he wont fight his biggest domestic rival (ie Witter). I personally want my champ to be a working mans champ whos come from the bottom not had big paydays but kept boxing for the dream they could make it to the top and 1 day hit the jackpot. Been a multi-millionaire before you fight a top10 fighter does not make u this!

Which part of Zoos a huge puncher, Floyd is a boxer and not a huge puncher don't you understand? Do you think Hatton would look as impressive against Mitchell as Zoo did because Hatton doesnt have the KO power Zoo has? Holyfield wouldn't look as good against Bruno as Tyson did but he still beat Tyson.
Educations 1 thing but if your on a boxing forum learn about fighting styles bro. Congrats on your marriage, what car you upgrading too?

DLH did fight the best comp but he was the golden boy and did have things on his terms and he was a notorious weight drainer. DLH is probably 1 of the most underated fighters, who could we see beating him ever at 135-140? Not too many but then again he did drain allot of weightand come in 14lbs over on fight night.

Lenny, I respectfully disagree. Hatton's been in a lot of dull fights. His fights are very repetitive affairs and there is no joy in watching someone pummell a hapless opponent unless you have some sort of allegiance to that person.Lenny Albert wrote:Yes Hatton has been carefully managed and not fought some of the names we would have hoped but at the end of the day he's 27 years old still with plenty of time in his career, 40-0 and WBA and IBF world champ in one of the best weight divisions. Eubank and Benn fought the best British fighters around (something Hatton is unwilling to do) and Benn fought McClellan, which speaks for itself.

Stop making excuses and look over the previous years. Hatton has had the chance to fight Floyd numerous times. Floyd isn't afraid of him and has absolutely no reservations about fighting him. It's Hatton that's putting it off.Cannibal wrote:A Hatton fight is definitely not on Mayweathers agenda anyway, he wants DLH after Judah doesn't he?

"I need 2 warm up fights" - Hatton.
Floyd has offered to fight Hatton before and after the Tszyu fight. Hatton chose Maussa. Now, that's a belt but that also says alot to choose Maussa over floyd. Hatton is already recognised as "the man", the reason he took the Maussa fight was because Maussa is an easy touch. Don't reply telling me Maussa's accomplishments, the fact is, he's not elite by any stretch. Now hatton's saying he needs two warm ups again.
Where does it all end?

Looks like there's an injunction hearing on February 21st regarding the Soulemayne MBaye sueing of the sanctioning body, no doubt with the aid of SN legal brief.
Mayweather has been looking for Hatton. What do you call calling him out after the Corley and Gatti fights? He wants Hatton in madison square garden and has wanted that fight for a long time.
It's hatton that's avoiding it.
"I need 2 warm up fights" - hatton

Nonsense, I've criticised Hatton plenty of times, especially in the run up to fighting Tszyu when he fought way too many soft touches.lirva33 wrote:James how blinkered are you mate. Floyd wanted Hatton as soon as he moved to 140, he's been saying it all along. He challenged him after the Corley and Gatti fights on national television.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Floyd isn't even available you prick, how's he supposed to fight Floyd when Floyd is already fighting against Judah? Floyd hasn't exactly been tripping over himself to make the fight happen either.lirva33 wrote: my good man, what are you doing up at this hour?
phillips was KO'd in K1.
Hatton can do no wrong in your eyes. The fact is, he could easily have made the fight. EASILY. He has said he needs two "warm ups". I thought the Maussa fight was a warm up?
Mayweather is fightinig Judah and then wants DLH, he's not even interested in fighting Hatton now, he was only interested when Hatton was the draw and nobody outside of boxing purists had heard of Mayweather.
At 140 Hatton beat Tszyu, which eclipses anything else Mayweather has done at the weight, whether you like it or not, he beat the linear champ.
Mayweather has just turned into a belt hopper now, I won't be at all surprised to see him go for some scrub belt holder at 154 after beating Judah, and claiming that he is 'the man' at 147.
How do you know the fight could have been made easily? At what point did Mayweathers people actually sit down with Hatton or Warren and say 'Right here's the deal we want to make, here is what we want, let's make the fight...answer....never.
You act like you know it all mate, but you don't know the first thing about the boxing business. You think because Mayweather runs his mouth off about fighting Winky Wright or Hatton that that means everyone is running from him, but it's easy to call people out without actually doing anything about it. When Hatton was the big star and Mayweather was still yet to appear on PPV, he was all going on about 'I'll come to Manchester and beat ricky up, I'll retire him I'll do this I'll do that.'
Then Hatton beats Tszyu, and suddenly Mayweathers says' No way am I fighting Hatton in Manchester, he'll have to come here, and goes and makes a fight for Gatti, because it's the only way the cable company will put him on PPV.
Despite all his bravado and popularity with boxing insiders, Mayweather couldn't draw flies to shit, and that's the bottom line, he needs a big name like Oscar, Gatti, Hatton to do decent figures on PPV.
Mayweather v Judah is going to BOMB on PPV, and they are going to lose money on overpaying Floyd for this one. The Floyd, if he wins, is going to be running around licking Oscar's bollocks desperately trying to get a big money fight he knows he can win.
If that happens and he wins, he will make such outrageous demands to fight ANYONE who is a threat, that the big fights won't come.
