Super Welterweight triple header

Post by handsofstone »

I haven't watched Lara/Martirosyan rematch yet,just both Charlo brothers

Jermall retained his IBF title via UD against Trout,I had it 116-112 as did 2 judges, the other had it 115-113,it wasn't a great fight, not too many clean punches landed throughout, just single punches especially early on,Trout took too long to get going,he finished well but left it too late although Jermall maybe nicked a couple of the closer rounds by landing a big right towards the end

Jermell KO'd Jackson in the 8th to win the vacant WBC strap, again not a great fight as a whole but a terrific finish from Charlo to turn things round, like in his fight with Lee I had Jackson in front before he got caught cold, big overhand right from Jermell had John turning away from him when Charlo sent him on his way with 2 lefts to send Jackson sprawled through your ropes, great ending to an otherwise boring fight

I watched it but I was smashed so I can't really comment! Lying on the couch trying to bite my own ears!

If the Charlo's want to be stars they need to really change their game...

I got in from work for most of the Lara fight. Not a bad scrap. Feel a bit sorry for Marti.....yan. Although he'll probably get a call to fight Canelo now...

Maritosyan is a good fighter and had his successes in the fight but Lara looked a level beyond him at times. I think GGG would stop Lara. He's a good fighter but he doesn't have the work ethic required to beat Golovkin.

I only had Lara winning 114-113,i thought the point deduction was a bit harsh too,i thought the shot was borderline,i scored the round 9-9,if not for the point off Martirosyan i wouldve had it a draw, there's no doubt Lara is the more skilled fighter and he showed glimpses of brilliance but i agree with those above who said he's too lazy and better fighters than Vanes will beat him

Scored it 115-112 Lara but he can be so hard to watch he does nothing for most of each round and nicks it. At least he was in a competitive fight for a change but if his work rate was significantly more than what it is and he let combinations go he would be a lot more appealing.

As for Martirosyan I really want to see him in with Liam Smith I think it would make an excellent fight and would. determine if Liam is worthy of being called a world champion.

Watched the Charlo Jackson fight and thought it was poor until the stoppage.

I thought trout Charlo was very entertaining. I was impressed with Charlo, he takes a good shot as well.

I also thought they conducted themselves well in the post fight discussions.
