Good on him.
Chris snr is a media whore and wasn't honest. Anything to get in the press.

And ironically this gets him back in the press.CharlesListon wrote:Good on him.

The Eubanks are likely to come out of this looking better than Blackwell and will get more publicity - surely this is not what he intended?
Re: Blackwell lays into the Eubanks.
Blackwell should stay off the tele if it’s just to say stuff like this. And a nice a fella Schofield is, they haven’t got him on there to chew the fat....he’s not mainstream at all.
A few quid is one thing but if it’s to air a grievance, sod that. Nobody broke any laws and nobody wanted him to get hurt badly.

Re: Blackwell lays into the Eubanks.
If he hadn't spoken out no one would have known, so I think he was right to do it. Especially with this in mind, they were very self serving during it all.
Re: Blackwell lays into the Eubanks.
You can see why he'd be a bit pissed at Eubank and Son.
I mean, Eubank couldn't wait to large it that he'd tried to get the referee to stop the fight. Trying to impress everybody with his, erm, compassion.

Re: Blackwell lays into the Eubanks.
Agree with what Eubank Jnr said, the press were asking for their side and slating boxing. If they'd stayed silent then it would have been open season on Eubank Jnr and his dad, they'd have got slated for saying nothing and it could have been construed that they didn't care etc. I certainly think they know how to play the media, but in this instance I still think they did the right thing in talking and giving their side rather than let the media just run riot with it.
Sounds like sour grapes from the lad Blackwell which is a shame, I feel that the Eubank's conducted themselves with grace throughout and this story is probably just about Blackwell getting some money for a crap story in a rag of a paper. I do agree Euban Snr milked the whole compassion thing though, but still don't think remaining silent during such a controversy for boxing would have been the right thing to do.

Re: Blackwell lays into the Eubanks.
Hopefully the Scum paid Blackwell well for this gutter press cack. He deserves every penny.
Re: Blackwell lays into the Eubanks.
Why on earth were so many different people "begging" them not to do it?He said: “If Chris Jnr was in a coma and I wanted to do a press conference on the Tuesday and their family was begging me not to do it, I would not do it.
“My promoter was begging Chris Snr. The Boxing Board of Control rang him and begged him not to do it.”
Why didn't they want the Eubanks to have a press conference?
The Eubanks were right to ignore them. Blackwell is coming across as bitter and weak.
Is this actually true? I don't think that it is.His injury was so serious it would prove fatal if he were to box again and he was forced to retire.
Re: Blackwell lays into the Eubanks.
If he had provided a sound reason why his family didn't want the Eubanks doing a press conference then maybe I could understand his position but he didn't. Why shouldn't the Eubanks have spoken? his family shouldn't have any control over them if they'd asked him not to and provided a valid reason then fair enough but no valid reason was explained in that article.
He comes across as pretty undignified in that article- probably because it paid more financially to do so.

Re: Blackwell lays into the Eubanks.
I thought his and his camps actions before the fight were pretty poor. Showed zero class having Saunders leading him out and trying to goad eubank snr, who would have smashed Saunders to pieces in his pomp it has to be said. Mind you, the Eubanks didn't look the slightest bit intimidated by Saunders and Fury, and why would they be?
It's a crap story and one I hope he got a few quid for. Just comes across as bitter.

I think it was more going on TV to do the interview the week afterwards. The bottom line is it was obviously a very traumatic/tough week for the Blackwell family, and even if they didnt give what most people would think of as a valid reason to the Eubanks they should have just gone along with the family's wishes anyway to keep them happy and not cause any further undo stress. A simple statement saying "We wish Nick all the best he is in our thought /prayers ect, however due to a request from the Blackwell family we will be making no further comment until Nick has recovered". If someone from the Blackwell inner circle did in-fact react out to the Eubanks its pretty poor form of them.

Why should the Eubanks go along with something stupid, when their own reputations are at stake?
No, it isn't.rio wrote:A simple statement saying "We wish Nick all the best he is in our thought /prayers ect, however due to a request from the Blackwell family we will be making no further comment until Nick has recovered". Would anyone mind posting the quotes so I don't have to click on the link? Thanks.
Re: Blackwell lays into the Eubanks.
Noticed Blackwell is getting torn to shreds on social media for his comments.
Personally I felt Eubank Jr was fully justified in not answering the question "would you prefer the belt or blackwells health?", Jr even berated the reporter for even asking such stupid question, yet Blackwell seems to have an issue with it.
Eubank Jr behaved very we and showed geniune concern for Blackwell while he was in a coma.

Re: Blackwell lays into the Eubanks.
I read the interview with Blackwell and although i can understand his frustrations the way his career has ended,i think blaming the Eubank's is wrong
Re: Blackwell lays into the Eubanks.
Not clever from Blackwell. Sometimes its better keeping quiet and retaining your dignity.
The article does suggests bitterness on his part.
The cash from the newspaper was obviosuly too much to turn down for a now unemployed and partially disabled (at least, at the present time) 25 yrs old.

Re: Blackwell lays into the Eubanks.
Quite surprised about this, seems to be a completely different tune to what he was saying last month on Twitter. Hope he got paid well.

Re: Blackwell lays into the Eubanks.
Actions speak louder than words... its only words spoken/quoted from Blackwell. Lets hope he got paid handsomely for this bit of sensationalism. The Eubanks bare no grudge & wish him well for the future as so should we.
Re: Blackwell lays into the Eubanks.
Whilst Blackwell was still in a coma, the Boxing Board, the fight promoters and Blackwell's family all expressed their wishes for the Eubanks not to do a press conference.
The Eubanks could quite easily have issued a statement but a 50 minute press conference ensured more publicity for the reality TV stars.

Re: Blackwell lays into the Eubanks.
I think Eubanks turned the story around with the comments made in the ring. When he was telling Eubank jr to go to the body I do not think it was because he was getting concerned about blackwells health. I feel that Eubank knew blackwell was a tough kid and had a strong chin so the only way to stop him was by going to the body and weakening him up there.
I just feel that Sr jumped on this comment to make himself look like a hero.

Jnr comes across OK generally,Senior deserves (and probably welcomes) all of the negativity that he gets.
Snr`s craving of absolutely any media exposure is becoming ridiculous now, every time there`s a lens pointed towards his Son then Snr`s hovering in the background desperately trying to appear classy and intellectual.
Jnr has handled the whole thing pretty well,to Snr it`s just another oppertunity at the limelight.
His whole act is just so tiresome now,25 years on and I`m pretty sure nobody`s ever going to be convinced that he`s an eloquent and classy philosopher anyway, and to pretend that his tactics were to save Blackwell from more damage is deplorable but not at all surprising .
