New Zealand Referee

Post by the rat »

In a prelim fight on the Parker vs Takam card

For the New Zealand National Boxing Federation (NZNBF) Super Middleweight Title

The referee Isaac Peach was the 3rd men in the ring, he's very dangerous for boxers, after a very long counts for the second knock down, there's no way that the referee let Joe Blackbourn continues to get ko for a third times in the first round

Hope that the head guy of NZNBF keep an eye on this dangerous referee, the world of boxing don't need this type of official

P.S. The main job of a referee is to protect the fighters and this guy fail big time on this occasion

Maybe the referee felt the floored fighter could come back. It's quite a tricky one because sometimes referees get in there early and the boxer who's getting pummeled gets pissed off and says they're alright and so on.

It's never too early to stop a fight, especially that one, the 2 nd knock down the counts was close to 14 secondes

I didn't see that fight but what I can say is, what you are saying happens more than you know. It's not just in New Zealand this happens and it won't be the last. The reff Peach knows what he's doing but it does sound bad but like I said, these things happen. It's good no one was hurt that night.

If you're saying it's never too early to stop a fight, then you're also saying that boxing shouldn't be a sport. Referees have a very hard job and peoples' lives lie in their hands. If they're going to err one way, it should always been on the side of caution and the boxers' safety, but there's certainly such a thing as stopping a fight too early. Take the first Froch-Groves fight for example - unfair for the losing fighter and most unsatisfying for the fans.
