I'd like Briggs to up set the apple cart, I'd find it most amusing, nothing against Haye but I like Briggs, seems like a decent guy.

Briggs
I can't stand David Haye, and would root for absolutely anybody to beat him. Even other fighters I dislike.

Briggs. And I think he has every chance of pulling it off too.
Neither fighter need a recovery period after Saturday either, so let's get it made sooner rather than later!

I don't dislike ANY fighter (kind off) but I'd be gutted if Briggs actually won. fornicating horrible for the sport of boxing - although to be honest - both of their recent careers are an insult to boxing.

Don't particularly care either way, but I suppose it would be slightly better if Haye won, just in case he decides to step up against Fury / Joshua / Wilder afterwards.

I can't understand why Haye's opposition is being criticised when the current world champs got their title shots fighting the very same level of opposition.

I can't understand how you would think Hayes opposition isn't being criticised?Controversial wrote:I can't understand why Haye's opposition is being criticised when the current world champs got their title shots fighting the very same level of opposition.
He's been slated for his first 2 opponents despite coming back from a several year lay off and now Haye vs Briggs is being rightly considered a laughable bout.
Yes Briggs might get hurt but it's his life. the board are willing to give him a licence and sanction the bout, they need to be held accountable too.
Briggs would not have stopped until he got the shot got KO'd and got a payday. Hopefully the beating isnt too bad, he gets stopped without any injury and he is happy enough with the payday to just fornicate off before he does himself damage. One can only hope
I'm not going to slate Haye for it, he isn't a world champ, as long as he doesn't start being taken seriously if he is going to fight joke opponents.
He had a couple warm up fight and now he's going to have a circus exhibition bout.
If he is to be seriously world ranked, after Briggs, he needs to fight a Stiverne or a Pulev. And even then he is in the queue behind the likes of Luis Ortiz and Joseph Parker.
If Wilder, Fury or Joshua give him the shot before he earns it, they deserve similar criticism
Re: Haye v Briggs......who do you want to win. Poll!!
Not particularly.
Though he doesn't particularly annoy me, Briggs' repetition of "Let's Go Champ" doesn't amuse me like it does some.

I think you misunderstood his point, Davie.
I hate this fight, it makes no sense. Why would anyone want to see a fighter who is well over ten years passed any semblance of a prime fight a fighter like Haye? I bet Haye is laughing his arse off that this fight will sell and that he'll get paid, last time Briggs fought anyone at the top he was hospitalised in a brutal beating. Why would anyone want to see him take another? I just hope Haye sparks him early but I know Briggs is far too tough for that.

Re: Haye v Briggs......who do you want to win. Poll!!
As I said on another thread Mike Tyson came back after his prison sentence and fought Peter McNeeley and Buster Mathis Jnr and then got a title shot against Bruno (the weakest title holder). It happens all the time in boxing, people are acting like Haye is the first person to do it. Wilder fought a long list of nobodies, as has AJ and Fury before they won the title, whats the difference? Its a business, Haye's aim is to get a title shot and earn as much money as possible, time isn't on his side. Both of Hayes opponents were world ranked with a combined record of 59-1-2 and a combined winning streak of 54 fights. They may not be very good but in general the HW scene has been poor which is why the top 10 is full of average fighters and fighters like Charles Martin become champ. In comparison to Briggs who doesn't even try and fight anyone with a winning record at least Haye is fighting better opposition and more regularly.davie wrote:I can't understand how you would think Hayes opposition isn't being criticised?Controversial wrote:I can't understand why Haye's opposition is being criticised when the current world champs got their title shots fighting the very same level of opposition.

I'd love Briggs to win, he seems a genuine likeable fella.
The truth is Haye will win early as the ref will be waiting to jump in at the first opportunity.
Haye is and always has been a masterful finisher.

^^^ This. Want Briggs to win but he won't. Don't want to see him take a terrible beating either.PredatorHayds wrote:I'd love Briggs to win, he seems a genuine likeable fella.

Doesn't bother me who wins fights. All I like is even match ups on paper. This is not so.
Re: Haye v Briggs......who do you want to win. Poll!!
It just about appeals because someone's hugely over-inflated bubble is going to get popped...either Haye or Briggs will be 'pursuing other interests' after this.
Briggs has made himself a cartoon character but the very outside chance that he might land first and hard and that Haye won't survive one, hard clean shot from a properly big man...makes this just about watchable as well.
