Does anyone know how one actually goes about becoming one?

go to the boxing commission and apply. the requirements are on the application.
pretty sure you have to set up swiss bank accounts first and have compromising
photos of yourself in the mob's possession and a gambling problem helps.

Each state has an athletic commission. Contact them directly and they will send you a form. Fill it in and then send it back.
