Paul Economides...Signed by Coldwell, Fighting at Goodison

Post by thepocketrocket »

Though his record isn't great (18-5) when you compare it to some of the other fighters on the bill, he has done some top work with Jamie and Gavin McDonnell, and gets his big break on the Bellew bill.

Obviously if he beats his South American opponent, there will be big things in the pipeline.

It is nice to see a guy who has put his all into the game get a chance to shine and line up a title shot. By the age of 29, a small hall fighter would usually be cannon fodder and on the wind down by now, or would have become a journeyman..

Good luck to Paul, and may it be encouraging to the hundreds of other small hall fighters who are in the same boat as he was. Never give up.

Fair play, good luck to the lad.

Early with the BBOC...lost a really close one against Gav McDonnell (ignore the scorecards on a non-televised away show) Then went MBC due to his promoters. Recently got his BBOC license back when Dave signed him.

Has been looking razor sharp in the gym for two years....just been impossible to get the real fights. he has his chance now though!

Thanks for that :TU:

The MBC question was purely out of interest and not a criticism

I get that mate :TU: If Paul was here now, he would say that the safety ect on an MBC show was fine, it was just the lack of fights he was getting. He trains me every week, and it was almost a weekly conversation he was losing his peak years when it had all 'clicked'.

No relations....he would have been winning Welsh schoolboy titles ect in the early 2000's so may well have been him. Maybe you are getting old? :TU:
