Can't stand Eddie Hearn......BUT

Post by Supremo »

He handed a £5k cheque to Rab Bannan the other day- Ricky Burns' ex coach who trained him as an amateur, and pro up until he joined Billy Nelson aroun 07-08. Money is to be put to use to do up the Barn boxing club.
I slaughter him when ever he needs it so I am due to give him some praise for that gesture that he didn't need to make. :TU:

Fair play, nice gesture.
The Barn could be doing with a few quid being spent on it. :bag:

I'll co-sign that

So does that mean we cant call him Camp Eddie till next Saturday? Or Sunday? Does today count? I say it counts as one of the seven, so we're resuming normal service RE: Effeminate Ed next Sunday, yes?

Not got a problem with old school but I have spent the odd occassion in the Barn and they aint even got one decent bag! Same tunes blaring all the time and the ring is hanging like a pile of sh1te. Still manage to do not bad for themselves so they cant be doing too much wrong.

Why are there so many posts that get negative about Eddie Hearn and also Joe Gallgher?

And why is it considered the norm around here?

Really is tiresome and pitiful.

Because he has a monopoly on mainstream televised boxing. The monopoly is detrimental to boxing fans. He treats boxing fans like mugs by serving up total dross as PPV which contradicts his promise a few years ago that PPV would only be used for fights that couldn't be made without that money. His obsession with PPV takes boxing further away from new fans and is to the detriment of the longevity of the sports popularity.

That's why.

I like Eddie. He's a promoter which means he'll do some dodgy sh!t occasionally but, at present, he's much better than most & does seem to genuinely want good fights. I do love his IFL stuff too.

But this 5 grand is shit though. It should have been 5,015 quid, at least. What a w@nker

I've not been in the Barn since around 2001ish. Was a very good club and always churned out some quality fighters. Says a lot for Rab the Crabbe and his coaching. When I boxed and you were at a show you always knew if you were fighting a Barn boy that you were in for a hard fight. Glad to see this gesture from Hearn. I hope the next generation of kids can benefit from it.

289% mark up. If you don't pay up by the specified date then Eddie sends his boys over to tickle you

Wouldn't it be nice if there was some sort of grassroots boxing fund. Say 1/2% of every profit making show signed up to it. I'm sure the BBBoC could help here? What do they actually do for their large fee's?

Aye he's a legend. In that club from 2-10 every day of the week mon-frid. Shows at weekends and cleans it on a Sunday.
He's done more to keep Coatbridge kids on the straight and narrow than anybody.
