David Prices' next opponent??

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

What should he do? He claims he world class elite. I don't think so. Who should he fight to prove himself even more?

Johann Duhaupas
Artur Szpilka
Alexander Ustinov
Alexander Dimitrenko
Manuel Charr
Dillian Whyte

A top 10. He beats any of those guys you mentioned and we'll still be questioning him.

Johann Duhaupas - good test
Artur Szpilka - KOs Price
Alexander Ustinov - beats Price
Alexander Dimitrenko - no idea of his current form
Manuel Charr - is this guy still alive
Dillian Whyte - KOs Price early

Fury will destroy him. Not competitive.

So you think these opponents are too good for Price as well?

Who do you think Price is? Because he beat a little bin man? Ortiz would annihilate him in 1 round.

Ha, i'm aware, thats exactly why i think he wont even get a fight with anyone in the top 10. he needs a decent domestic fight

If he wants to keep winning he shouldn't fight beyond British title level.

Maybe knock over some more cans, have a grudge match with that Dave Allen guy who has been calling him out, then see if the chance comes to fight someone like Cornish or Lewison for the British title. He's shown that he can get the job done at a certain level and if he sticks to that he can still have appeal as a KO artist without getting his head taken off.

True, but I dont think he is interested in domestic level. He is calling out Joshua. Dont they all. He might go down Haye rout, fight few bums and aim at AJ.

Allen is likely to fight Whyte and we will see if he is any good.

I like to see him against Tyrone Spong, but I don't expect him to dare that.

There's no doubt in my mind Price isn't world class. For all the hype when he first went pro I seem to recall him having a reputation for getting chinned in the amateurs so he was probably never going to get to the top. Having said that I don't think he's British level either. He's cleared out the opposition at this level before (Tyson aside) and I'm pretty confident he would get past nearly all of them again, although a contest with Whyte would be interesting.

With that in mind I'd say go for Whyte as the next opponent as it will show where he is currently. Win and its the European level circuit, which I think is where he belongs, lose and its back to domestic level or retirement.

I should add I'm not saying he beats Pulev for the title - just I think he belongs at a higher level than domestic

Pulev would be a good fight for him.

The extra weight he's got will be a improvement.

OK, so following the Teper disaster ( yes, Teper was PEDs enhanced, but regardless, the damage was done, so physically & psychologically he has been rather brutally KO'd on three occasions, def. NOT something that's often rebounded from ), Pricey got an easy blow out win as a bit of a confidence booster. So, with that done, what does he do now?
The most likely route appears to be more of the same in order to fatten up his record & put some distance between him & those losses, but to what end?
I suppose it will allow him & his handlers to earn some coin & perhaps put him in line for a big name opponent down the line. But, that all seems like a waste of time to me. I'd much rather see his people do their best to arrange a bout between Price & Hughie Fury. Which would likely produce a lot of interest & a large gate. And, with only 10 KOs in his 20 wins, Fury wouldn't be a big threat to walk right through Price like Thompson & Teper did.
With Pricey's amateur pedigree & his pro experience thus far, he would be a huge test for Fury at this stage & a win over the unbeaten lad would certainly put Price right back in the mix. And, should Fury prove to be too much for him, then that would prove beyond a doubt that it's time for Price to hang 'em up & pursue another career path.

I agree that Price-Hughie is an excellent matchup and I'd favour Price.

Of the given options, I think Charr, Ustinov and Dimitrenko would be good fights for Price. I see him getting stopped by Whyte. Duhaupas and Szpilka are too high-risk, low-reward.

Why not Mark de Mori? They are about the same level.

DeMori may have a better chin, but that's about it. Price is definitely a class or two above him.

As soon as Price fights Nagy Aguilera for example, there's a good chance he loses.
