I think the exact words were 'fish eyes! you said I couldn't do it, now I have.'

Mairis Breidis as the mando? Thought the name rung a bell. He's the dude who knocked Manuel Charr spark out despite being outweighed by about 35lbs.

Hope nobody discredits the win though. Makabu is a very good fighter. Has solid wins over Kucher and Mchunu as well as KO power. Slightly annoyed to hear Froch say that Cruiserweight isn't a "dangerous division". I'd say it's arguably the most dangerous in the sport, in terms of standard of champions, depth of challengers and serious punchers - Lebedev, Glowacki, Huck, Briedis, Dorticos, Usyk - the list goes on. Brilliant achievement by Tony, hope he can get a few big fights and cement a legacy in the division.
I'd say cruiserweight is the most competitive division in the sport right now.

Yeah that's the guy. Just stopped Durodola in 9. The guy who himself recently knocked out the Russian KO monster Kudryashov who was 18-0 with 18 KO's. He was defensively dire though Kudryashov that is and subsequently heavily exposed.

Can someone explain what fish eyes means? Is he referring to Frank allegedly?

I didn't see the fight as I went camping but I'm made up for him. He gets WAY too much flack on here and he's proved 'em all wrong.

Anyone know what's up between tony and fwank ? I recall their dispute, when Toby moved camps, if my memory is correct fwank kind of threw the towel in, and made a comment to the effect that it's no great loss as its only Bellew.

Kuds power is f**king scary that left he landed on Durodola would put most guys away. See way that guy do down in his fight before that ? Scary scary stuff.

Very interesting what happens with Bellew I'm not going down the Makabu was a fraud route he was legit IMO and that win makes Bellew a legit guy at Cruiser.

I'm curious on his motivation and hunger now he achieved his dream in style last night you can't take that away from him.

Well said. I've never liked Bellew but fair play - and a good sport afterwards too.

Didn't Fwanky basically call Bellew an expectant moaner who wasn't grateful for what Fwanky did for him? Something like that anyway

Remember, at the time Fwanky sent Cleverley in to Bellew's backyard defending Clev's ( paper ) title? After that, Clev was obviously Fwanks main man.

Turned out to be a great career move for Bellew though. Hearn has done an amazing job with him, managing to land a world title. Would never have thought that would happen. Fair play to them both. :TU:

Just got round round to watching this card,it was pretty boring if im honest,Farell/Yates was a good fight but the rest were meh

Bellew/Makabu was a cracker though and im happy to see Tony do it,he deserves massive credit i thought Ilunga would probably KO him but after getting put on his arse in the 1st he regrouped well and the last left hook that finished Makabu off was a sickner

He does wear his heart on his sleeve and is a bit OTT sometimes but he deserves it,he brutally KO'd a dangerous fighter, yet another Brit world champ

Bit gutted - I was hoping that it would go higher and more silky lustrous volume each time he commentated.

After beating Groves (in case you hadn't heard) I took it as some kind of mental torture over the folicly challenged Groves

Ha! He referred to his former promoter as "fish eyes"in the post fight interview?

Recall Bomber complementing FW at every opportunity, when he was a BoxRec forum poster years ago.

Well done to Bellew for seizing his opportunity, getting up and scoring a big KO in another terrific fight for the cruiserweight division.

Who'd have thought he'd go on to arguably have a better career than Cleverly.

Fair play, you can't knock his achievements, but then in the after fight presser he called himself "the Scouse Tommy Hearns" and made himself look stupid.

Fair play to Bellew. One of the more positive third round knockouts that Goodison has seen in recent years.
