Do you consider Bellew a PPV fighter?

Though, I'm sure most of us are under the impression that PPV shouldn't exist on a Sky Sports channel that you already pay a fortune for, being that it does, is Bellew a PPV fighter now he has a title?

I kind of think Hearn will have trouble selling Bellew somehow. Firstly, there was a lot of bad press around Bellew vs Cleverly 2 being PPV. If Uncle Eddie charges people a fee for another Bellew fight, it damn sure had better be against somebody world class. Secondly, how popular is Bellew to the masses? People are getting fed up of him thinking he's the hardest man in the world. Sell well in Liverpool perhaps, but is he popular enough to be a PPV fighter.

Mostly because Bellew has only beaten 1 recognized World Champion in his entire career - and he isn't exactly a young man. Bellew is a big puncher but he is being fed boxers who are below the World-Class level.

The likes of Makubu, Kulikauskis, Bacurin, Dos Santos & Bolonti have never even procedded as far up the rankings to receive a shot at a World Title.


All in all, I'd say that Bellew has met a low standard of opponent (excluding Stevenson of course)

I don't think his is PPV, however that wont stop him and Eddie trying it on - I don't know the numbers but they both still say that the Clev fight did "good numbers" on PPV

I think for the right fight then yes, but not many can carry PPV on their own shoulders against opponents with weird names like makubu or Droidz etc without a big undercard fight in chief support.

That's true of Bellew and anyone else in the UK apart from Watford's Oluwafemi Olaseni.

He would never be able to sell his own card. He would need to fight someone with a big name, the or domestically a big fight with Haye, even then it would be Haye who attracts the buys. The Cruiserweight division is filled with European boxers, who have no star power either in the UK or USA. Ask a casual Bellew fan if he knows Lebedev?

There is no one he could possibly fight that would make me pay to watch, might be an exciting fighter, but it would need to be a stacked card. Maybe the next AJ card, but then that wouldn't be his ppv.

There's no such thing as a PPV fighter. There are PPV fights but no fighter merits his each and every contest being PPV let alone this deluded European level fighter.

Yeah and Nathan was a World Champion at Light Heavy, he was never a ranked cruiserweight.

I've seen that Bellew has been getting on every media vehicle that he can (TalkSport radio, BBC breakfast show etc...) which is normal enough - the likes of AJ and DeGale done the same thing when they won their World Titles but I have noticed just how bitter Tony Bellew comes across in repeated interviews. And I say that, comparing him to the two others.

For example (some extracts from their interviews)

AJ: "It's a dream come true, ever since I turned professional , I dreamed of becoming World Heavyweight Champion"
JDG: "Ever since winning a Gold Medal for my country, becoming a World Champion has been my main goal"

Then you have Bellew coming off with:

"I told you all that I would be a World Champion. People have continually doubted me and criticized me throughout my career. But I have done it now, I'm World Champion. I told you so"

I give Bellew credit for winning a World title- even if it was vacant - but I'm nopt automatically going to start describing him as a "great fighter" - to do that he needs to be defeating better opponents that what he has been doing.

And I'm talking about the likes of: Glowacki, Lebedev, Drozd, Huck and Shumenov - then we can properly start measuring him as a fighter.
