Clubs in Sussex and Surrey closed down
Clubs in Sussex and Surrey closed down
Currently I coach at a club, and was speaking with someone recently who has told me due to the rise in white collar shows , that lots of clubs in past 10 years closed down. Just wanted to see if anyone can name any in South east as news to me ?

Very few clubs actually close but many are struggling to maintain the drive and success of the past and slip off the radar a bit.
Lots of reasons for this. White collar boxing has been extremely damaging to senior boxer numbers. Fewer boxers invariably means having to travel longer distances to get bouts which makes it impractical for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday night shows etc., More championships than before being held at weekends. More opportunities to box for fitness with little care for the sweet science.
I could go on but basically the sports on a handcart to hell

I know a few seniors who have gone down the white collar /unlicensed route due to previous wearing of headgear and being able to call it semi pro and earn a few pounds, many of the ones I've seen lack the basics taught by most am clubs tho.
