Re: Updating the BOXREC Forum Heavyweight Rankings CLOSED
The number with the most votes is unimportant - I have never used this to calculate the rankings, I remember you assuming this before but it has never been the case.asdfjkl wrote:Freedom2013 Coachmanager dagilechia heretic.Horse wrote:I only counted three votes for out.asdfjkl wrote:Ah, now I see, most people never wanted him in the list I see, but you got odd methods of calculating I understood.
Let's check the votes:
7 9 9 11 12 13 13 100 100 100 100 100
100 is not in top 15.
That makes 13 in the middle right? Somehow you make a 12 of it for something I don't understand but ok.
Who voted out?
Oh oops, I appearantly counted my own vote, but I didn't actually vote at the time.
I saw 100/U/16+ had most votes (4), second was 13 (2) and 9 (2 as well).jezzamundo wrote:Based on the numbers you've posted, most people who voted did want him ranked, by a vote of 7 to 5. I'm not sure where you got the other two 'unraked' votes from as there are only three - so actually the majority wanted Scott ranked by a vote of 7 to 3. The median is 12.5, hence the =12 rank. Based on the new rules, the existing fighter is placed higher, so Scott would go to #13 in this case.asdfjkl wrote:

Ofcourse he's not going to say what's already obvious :S, he didn't say anything about Gary Cornish either, since it's obvious that he's out as well.
If he can't be bothered to mention Scott, then he doesn't get to vote on the matter, simple as that.
It's not jezzamundo's job to guess what other people want. They either say it or they don't.

Horse is correct, if someone neglects to mention a fighter in their vote, they have not made a vote regarding that fighter at all. FYI, had I counted that one extra vote for Scott OUT (which I shouldn't because it's actually against the rules I've stated), then Scott would have gone to #13 and would be in the exact same position today (seeing as Teper was removed for his drug ban), so this particular case has had no impact on the rankings as they currently stand. Whether you think the list is useless or not doesn't interest me, what the list is, is an accurate reflection of how the majority of people who vote believe the heavyweights should currently be ranked. I don't agree with everything on the list, but overall I think it's the best heavyweight rankings out there, certainly better than any of the rankings from the alphabet soup organizations and slightly better than the computerized rankings from various organizations.Note: This topic is for voting on the rankings of Fighter A and Fighter B. Posting your own top 15 will not count as a vote. Please cast your vote in the manner that I have done above.
Re: Updating the BOXREC Forum Heavyweight Rankings CLOSED
I din't vote for this topic because I don't vote for matches I have not seen. I did not have time to watch this one. Takam is really solid win so I think it turned out pretty well anyways.
Ranking boxers is really hard nowadays because they never fight each other. Impossible to really say is Joshua better then Parker when neither has that many wins against top ranked opponents. Not any meaningful matches against same opponents to judge either. So all of the rankings are pretty subjective anyways.
This is still the best ranking around

They have actually been fighting each other a fair bit recently.Heretic wrote:Ranking boxers is really hard nowadays because they never fight each other.
Parker should definitely be higher. There's a good chance that Takam would batter Joshua.Heretic wrote:Impossible to really say is Joshua better then Parker when neither has that many wins against top ranked opponents.
I agree.Heretic wrote:This is still the best ranking around
Re: Updating the BOXREC Forum Heavyweight Rankings CLOSED
Parker should be higher because he beat higher level of opposition. Among their opponents Takam rates head and shoulder above everyone else. If you beat better opposition you should be rated higher. Simple.
