All you need to know is that they're both taller and more athletic than Ward.Kalan wrote:I can't imagine Cleverly. He would be a step down from Barrera. Those other guys I can't make a judgment. I don't remember seeing them.diddy wrote:Will be Cleverly, Alexander Brand or Erik Skoglund according to Rafael. Probably Clev.

I would actually quite like to see Ward/Cleverly.
Cleverly just throws a lot of punches and Ward's workrate isn't so good so maybe Ward will be forced to do something in there. Or maybe he'll just lower Clev's output.

Cleverly is the best of those options, and probably the best opponent we could hope for since guys like Fonfara and Alvarez are with Haymon.

Yeah, think that would be a good scrap, Ward's not going to bash him up, and Cleverly is big and throws enough shots to make Ward work. Would be a good tune up for Ward.Riddick Blowe wrote:I would actually quite like to see Ward/Cleverly.

I am guessing he will pick whoever pays better. From what I read, the final choice hasn't been made.Riddick Blowe wrote:What happened with Cleverly aiming for Brahmer though?

I enjoy both gammon and steak.
You should try to enjoy a variety of meat.
I like a horse meat lasagna!
But I know what is the better meat, like I know what is the better fight.
Don't go there.
Horse still hasn't got over Findus killing his sister.

Going by what Rafael just posted Clev doesn't seem likely:

Roc Nation Sports is working on a fight for former super middleweight champion Andre Ward (29-0, 15 KOs) on July 30 (HBO) at the Oracle Arena in his hometown of Oakland, California, but the opponent is not set. However, the leading candidate, former light heavyweight titleholder Nathan Cleverly (29-3, 15 KOs), of Wales, probably will not be his foe. Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn, Cleverly’s promoter, told ESPN.com that Cleverly probably will challenge Germany’s Juergen Braehmer for his secondary light heavyweight word title instead. Hearn said they have been “waiting and waiting on Ward” and instead will look to fight Braehmer in September. Hearn said the fight is “not done yet but likely.” Ward is taking a supposed tune-up fight before a November HBO PPV showdown with unified titleholder Sergey Kovalev, who is fighting his own interim bout against Isaac Chilemba on July 11 (HBO) in Ekaterinburg, Russia.
