Bellew vs Haye: Payday for Bellew or legitimate fight

Post by big lennox »

Bellew is a fantastic self promoter. He is bright, articulate and can speak with real conviction.

He sounds very confident of being able to beat David Haye. So, is he serious about it, does he genuingely think he can win, or is he just in it for a huge payday?

What do people think? I like Bellew, and I like his stance on PEDS, and agree with him that Haye needs to step up the competition (before an opponent gets badly hurt), and I think Bellew is now in the form of his career, but is that enough?

I wouldn't be surprised at all if Bellew and Haye are in cohorts with this one and keeping themselves high on the boxing coverage stakes with this talk of a possible fight.

Doesn't Bellew have to fight the real WBC cruiser champ first and foremost? He will likely make a packet from that. I can't see the Haye fight happening. If it does, even the Haye we've seen lately would hurt Bellew.

I think Bellew still looks quite fragile and not particularly difficult to hit.....Haye may not be what he once was, but I think he'd hurt Bellew very easily and have what it takes to put him away.

Never seen Bellew or whatever boxing, but by looking at his cruiserweight results, he probably has a fair chance.

There is nothing legitimate about this possible fight.

If Haye were to take this fight, it would be just as farcical as the two daffodils he's already knocked over, plus the fossil he plans to dig up in September to knock over.

It would be nothing more than a payday for both of them.

Haye would smash Bellew within a round, it would be an embarrassment. I'd definitely watch it though :yay:

It could get interesting if Bellew could get out of the first half of the fight, especially if Haye is struggling carrying that extra timber. Just can't see it happening.

If Bellew was cautious against Stevenson how would he be with Haye?

Bellew wants a payday, all he cares about is the money side. fair play to him but I hoe it doesn't happen as Bellew has to be one of the worse WBC world champions ever. Stephenson should step up and rape the belt off him.

Exactly - Bellew looked petrified every time Stevenson mounted an attack and there is a big difference between getting hit by Stevenson and Haye, I should imagine.

If it happens it's a genuine fight and makes them both a few quid. Why not? I'd imagine Bellew would probably get more going to Russia to fight Lebedev in a unification and Haye would get more fighting AJ so can't see it happening anytime soon.

I'll say why not, because it's a garbage fight. Bellew has no business being in the ring with Haye, who is a world class puncher at heavyweight, he would get ironed out the first time Haye landed flush. It would, to paraphrase our Dave, be as edifying as a gang rape.

I hope so mate..Im not gonna lie and say I've never been hurt boxing cos I have..I've been hit of David Haye and that bloody hurt and also off David Price and that bloody hurt too..While I was't dropped I felt like it at the time.. Big Pricey likes to say I have a chin like Eubank..

Now he's not saying he got thrashed but it certainly doesn't sound like bellew whooped him with ease like he's trying to make out now does it?

Ever consider that in the last seven years, Tony thinks he has improved?

There is no way Bellew goes into a Haye fight thinking he can't win. No way.

Yeah Bellew would get layed out but there's a lot of decent heavyweights who would go the same way if Haye landed flush. I think it would be decent enough while it lasted. Would prefer to see Bellew against Drozd or Lebedev and Haye in with a proper heavyweight with a pulse but if it were to happen then I've no problem with it.

Wether he has improved or he hasn't my point is he's completely changed his tune about what actually happened in the sparring session they had in order to get a fight with haye.

I can also remember him coming on here and saying haye was one of the best fighters he's ever shared a ring with.

Just the other day he said "me and pricey bounced him all over the ring and he had to pull out of his fight with hobson because of it" or something to that affect so which of his two versions of events is true i wonder?

I personally think this fight will be right up hayes street,a fight he knows he can easily enough win for the lions share of the ppv money all courtesy of fast eddie.

Oh no way will haye be making cruiser either the best bellew can hope for is a catchweight of some sort and bellew will snatch his hand because even though he'll get flattened, win lose or draw bellew wakes up the next day over a million pounds richer and that's what it's all about isn't it

I completely agree. I think Haye would blast him out. I don't think it has anything to do with weight though. It's purely down to ability in my opinion.

Haye has bulked up so I can't see him agreeing to fight any lower than 16 stone.

Also Bellew isn't huge for the weight so I can't see him going much higher than he is currently.

There's no way the fight can happen. Weight difference too much.

They are both great at playing the media and can use the 'beef' to help sell their next tickets.

I see Bellew hasn't called out Fournier. PPV On Deja Vu from the Dominican Republic. The fight the public want.

Hayes comeback opponents have been shocking & so is Briggs, but he's still one of the best & most exciting heavyweights around..
Personally I'd like him to shut Bellew up, as I can't stand him, Haye would win as soon as he connect's & I'd like nothing more than to see the Liverpool Lip sprawled out on the canvas...
