Why No Thurman/Porter PPV?

Post by bnovelist »

Huh? This fight isn't no FREE TV bout this a WW Super Fight and why is the being televised on PBC? That's crazy! Haymon doesn't know what the hell

he's doing Oscar & Arum would promote the hell out of this for PPV status! Which MEANS Porter $2million & Thurman $7mil

No it's not good for the fans! Because we need PPV stars to have a reason strike up conversations with random folk, hit up the sports bars, etc...

Haymon is killing boxing we NEED PPV stars to keep the sport alive! Free TV my ass!

Fight wouldn't do 100 k on Ppv. Many folks stream for free nowadays. Imo ppv is dying. Ppv is not the way to go. Just look at a popular guy like Ggg only doing 100k on his ppv. Technology has improved free streaming :)

You're wrong...Why? For the Mayweather/Cotto fight, Mayweather/Canelo, and & Mayweather/Pac I swear my neighborhood was flooded with cars

parked on the street to maximum capacity fight parties out the ass! That's just as I'm leaving out passing by then the sports bars you'll be lucky

to find parking space it's crazy! We need PPV stars! PPV is what brings out the fight parties!

Thurman and Porter are no Floyd, Cotto, Pacquiao, Canelo type stars. Putting them on free TV or even regular Showtime or HBO is where this fight belongs. Not enough people know who either of these guys are to be putting this fight on PPV. Putting them on TV where anyone can watch is what will make these guys stars and potential PPV draws down the line.

Thurman and Porter's families would pay for it, where is the rest of that 9 million plus you just doled out coming from??

To borrow from Don King, you could get more people to pay to watch Floyd Mayweather WATCH Keith Thurman and Shawn Porter fight, than pay to watch Keith Thurman and Shawn Porter fight.

People only watch Floyd to lose anyway not to many people watch him to win 12 round decision if so then Rigo would sell right? Crawford is more pushed more than Porter and Thurman and is fighting legit fighter in Postol and PPV will flop and so would Porter-Thurman.

Cause Thurman - Porter isn't PPV worthy. I wouldn't pay a dime to see that fight.

I will pay for Crawford - Postol

Clear #1 and #2 in the division and it's a unification fight. Those are the type of fights I respect promoters for.

Haymon would never put Garcia and Thurman in a ring together.

I think there should be no PPV, but if people paid for Floyd vs Berto, why can't they pay for Thurman vs Porter which is a better fight ?

I know the question is stupid and so are casual fans.

The only thing that I agree with you with here is that the PBC has done a HORRIBLE job promoting this fight. There's a great backstory with these two kids and they've known each other for many years, since they were kids. They could have done a few 24/7 type shows to promote it. I haven't even seen a commercial lately for this fight. It's ridiculous.

With that said, I think this fight is going to suck and we'll be disappointed at the end. The fight is going the distance and it's going to be Porter wrestling left and right and Thurman trying to box while moving backwards and running on occasion. It's an ugly matchup in my opinion.

Lastly, the PBC is on it's last breath and this is their last hurrah. If this fight doesn't bring in numbers to impress investors then they are done. I can't wait until the PBC dissolves and Haymon's clout gets flushed down the toilet. I expect boxers to then leave his command and then we might get to see better fights without the structural divide within the sports promoting arms.

You could always get ppvs for free. Used to be illegal cable boxes.

So you're basically complaining that there is a top quality fight being shown on free to air TV and not PPV? You must lead a very charmed life if you think this merits a complaint. The more boxing on free TV the better IMO.

You have a point about Haymon missing a trick with the promotion of this fight though. If this was two UK fighters at the same stage as Thurman and Porter I would have no problem paying the PPV fee.

Who the hell would pay for this fight? Crawford-Postol will lucky to get $75k buys at that is with half of Omaha paying for it. This fight would do a third of that.

It's not on PPV because it wouldn't sell. Simple enough.

Who pays full ppv unless you have a party other than that no real reason with the other options. Other than Canelo the ppv model may be dead.
