Any news on Bertebiev getting a shot against a name fighter?

Post by Chepppaaa »

he kos people left and right, enough, now fonfara, adonis or anybody should give him a shot, its time. and maybe it is not the big money fight (better than joe smith or thomas williams jr :brick: :brick: ), but anybody who beats bertebiev would get a mayor status boost, bert is a tough dude, he beat kovalev in the amateurs and looks super string as a pro, he is the real deal.

anybody knows anything?

Beterbiev has no chance against either Kovalev or Stevenson.

He definitely has chances against both of them and would be a favorite against the old Stevenson.

I think he will smoke them both once he gets more pro fights under his belt. Didn't he kinda already own Sergey on The Russian National Team?

He had a gift decision over Kovalev in Grozny with Chechen judges.

He's got impressive power, but I think Kovalev and Adonis have power as well and more tools to go with it. He may well be able to beat them anyway just based on how hard he punches, but I'd like to see him step up to get a better idea of how he'd fare against guys at the top.

It is pretty hard to do when all top guys except Kovalev don't have any desire to fight him. Regular "risk vs reward" excuses.

he beat kovalev in the amateurs
he beat cloud and campillo with 0 problem
he beats up pascal every time they do sparring

bertebiev can handle any lh worldwide. yes, he is limited, so is kovalev, so is ward, kova is limited athleticly and speedwise, ward is limited powerwise and simply doesnt have a ligh heavyweight body and he will find out ones he faces big light heavyweight like fonfara or stevenson.

If he isn't offering a good enough risk-reward ratio for Kovalev and Stevenson, he should try fighting Pascal or Alvarez. An all-Canadian card would probably sell adequately enough to get the fight made and pay the opponent well. After he has Pascal or Alvarez on his resume, his bargaining position will improve. Also, Beterbiev needs to be a lot more active, given that he's 31 years old with only 10 pro fights. Activity will improve bargaining position.

Beterbiev is going to have the Gennady Golovkin problem... The Luis Ortiz problem.. The Vasyl Lomachenko problem.. The Guillermo Rigondeaux problem.. The Sergei Kovalev problem.. The Gary Russell problem.. etc. etc. etc.

If you're a masterboxer -- or worse, the best boxer-puncher in your division... the way Boxing is structured right now there's a lot of ways to hide from you -- for years and years and maybe forever... In the case of Ortiz, the top Heavyweights can avoid him until he's an old man.

I'd like to see Beterbiev-Stevenson, Beterbiev-Alvarez, Beterbiev-Browne or Beterbiev-Fonfara.

No promotional squabbles preventing these fights.

You all are crazy. I watched the Bertebiev fight the other day just to see what all the hubbub was about with this guy. Was I supposed to be impressed by that performance? He fought an absolute fish and the guy landed some big shots. If that was Kovalev or that bitch Adonis, it would be like target practice. NOT impressed. I've been reading people blowing this guy here for over a year now and I have no idea what you guys are talking about.

I think beterbiev is pretty overrated. Like someone else mentioned, I would like to see him fight alvarez. That would be a reasonable step up against a guy who isn't completely shot and would be makeable and could do decent business in Canada.

Also, he had a chance to fight kovalev for a career high payday and turned it down. I don't necessarily blame him, but he had a chance.

Stevenson was the one who made a scene to make the fight for THIS MONTH.

Stevenson has been the one demanding his team negotiate the fight.

Kovalev has been hiding behind HBO and Duva.
