Boxing News- "the trade paper"???

Post by Supremo »

Why was there no mention let alone a preview of the British lionhearrs fighting in the WSB final against Cuba???

Just found out online the final was last night and I've missed it. I rely on boxing news mostly to keep me up to date with what is coming up and where it will be shown.

Totally unacceptable.

Don't even know if BN broadcast it because boxing news never listed it at all in upcoming fights. They never listed the semis against Kazakhstan either despite allegedly broadcasting it.

You would think the fact Britain was in the final would have made it a pretty big deal....

allegedly are supoosed to be showing it in the next week. Considering they've covered all the previous Lionhearts matches it's disappointing that they couldn't have broadcast the final somehow...or at least the first five fights that took place before the Smith bill started airing and then maybe the rest afterwards.

I also noticed there has been virtually nothing in Boxing News about the Lionhearts recently and even the briefest mention was incorrect "...(Kazakhstan) who take on the British Lionhearts at York from May 26-27..." Alas, photos seem to dominate the paper and there seem so little in the reviews and reports. The report on Dereck Chisora's recent European title challenge against one of the better heavyweights in the world had the length and depth of a report on Ceefax. It was also extremely disappointing this week reading Matt Christie's take on the merits of winning a world title these days, something that could well have been written by Jose Sulaiman.

I don't agree with multiple belts but I don't think Christie was motivated by any ulterior motive and it's good to read the opposing point of view as most mainstream writers would share our opinion.

Unfortunately boxing news hasn't been a 'trade' paper for years...
