Mexican Boxers Show Us The Way It Should Be Done
Anyone that had the pleasure of watching Vargas and Salido's masterpiece last night got a taste of what the sport of boxing is all about. This wasn't a one off or a lucky matchup by promoters. It's the failsafe pairing of 2 quintessential Mexican prize fighters that rarely if ever disappoint. Mexicans are the most exciting fighters in the game and it's been that way for a long time and it's about time that they started getting the credit they deserve. GGG coined "Mexican Style" as his mantra in the ring and I guess there's no better compliment from the best fighter on the planet.
Why do Mexican fighters seem to show twice the heart and determination in the ring than they other fighters? I don't buy the indigenous excuse that explains that they fight so hard because of how poor they are. There's been plenty of highly paid Mexican Boxers that show that same bravado and heart in the ring without the desperation for money. Is it the history of Mexican boxing and something they learn early on in the sport? Why do we rarely see this kind of thing with American or British fighters who always seem to be trying to find the easy way out? What is it about these heroic Mexican fighters that make them so determined?

Imo its because for some reason Mexicans and Latinos in General can take a better punch. If you know going into a fight you have good punch resistance you will be more likely to take more risk. Even if you look at many of the old Mexican Fighters they still hsve thier mental capacities intact.caldo2025 wrote:Anyone that had the pleasure of watching Vargas and Salido's masterpiece last night got a taste of what the sport of boxing is all about. I'm actually sitting watching Barrera v Morales 1 and I seen this thread. My favourite ever fight. Wrong guy won but what a fight

Even the third bout was a very good fight. It just shows how good the first and second were because that third fight gets looked at as a bit of a damp squib and by comparison it was tbf but on its own merit it was a good fight.Nightmare Roy wrote:One of the best ever that one .Stuarty30 wrote:I'm actually sitting watching Barrera v Morales 1 and I seen this thread. Let's not generalize. We know a Mexican fighter who dropped his belt to avoid a tough fight.
Re: Mexican Boxers Show Us The Way It Should Be Done
Fair point here. But Canelo became way too valuable lately to Golden Boy and boxing in general as the heir apparent to Floyd's throne. There's just too much money on the line to lose at this point. GB and Canelo couldn't resist going after that low hanging fruit (Cotto) and the MW belt. Now they look like absolute pussies for running scared from GGG. It's pretty sad because I do think that Canelo would have given GGG a better fight than most. He'll still get knocked out and possibly die but that move was not a Mexican move. I completely agree.boxing_rocks wrote:Let's not generalize. We know a Mexican fighter who dropped his belt to avoid a tough fight.

Its a lot of things but the will to win plays a big part. These guys just don't want to lose most come from poor backgrounds and will do whatever it takes to succeed.
Big props for vargas and Salido those guys just upped there profiles big time.

We can point to African American fighter and say that's what boxers should look like.. Then someone will Shiite on them the bias of people.
Re: Mexican Boxers Show Us The Way It Should Be Done
It's a dimwitted fan that doesn't realize that Canelo is the #1 box office attraction in the sport right now and getting knocked out without cashing in first is bad business and foolish. Ducking GGG hurts his reputation somewhat but not nearly as much as it would hurt if he took the fight and got knocked out as we all expect he would.world ranked wrote:Make general statement about a group and then make excuse for the same group of people typical near sighted fan.caldo2025 wrote:Fair point here. I guess we love to force stars instead fighters making themselves Stars. I wonder how many breaks a guys gets #1 money maker got shutout 12-0 in his biggest fight. Could have two more losses. I guess Mexicans run the sport in the states even idots believe Canelo the next coming. Dominated, ducking and gifts and still being pushed to the moon wonder why.caldo2025 wrote:It's a dimwitted fan that doesn't realize that Canelo is the #1 box office attraction in the sport right now and getting knocked out without cashing in first is bad business and foolish. Like it or not, the kid now owns Vegas. He's the new Floyd and they are going to protect him and get the refs and the judges onboard as they also did with Floyd. Floyd still had to perform on fight night but as a safety net, he made sure all other corners of the bed were tucked in nicely in case he needed a hand. You have already seen Canelo benefit from questionable scorecards in the past. He's going to be very tough to beat for anyone not named GGG.world ranked wrote:I guess we love to force stars instead fighters making themselves Stars. It's up to WE fans to make sure that Canelo doesn't get away with this scot free though. He's a proud dude and I hope that he's getting ribbed multiple times daily about ducking GGG because eventually, it's going to get to him and maybe he'll demand the fight against GB's wishes. They clearly don't want it as Canelo is all that they have right now.

Any Canelo's tweet is now followed by former fans letting him know about their disappointment. Canelo was so stupid to tweet about Ali being his idol, and fans were quick to point to major differences between the two.caldo2025 wrote:Like it or not, the kid now owns Vegas. Starting from a certain level, money doesn't make you happier. Substance abuse and suicide level is very high among celebrities. I don't care about the Cowardnello anymore. The right boxer has the belt, so El Pollo can do whatever he wants -- fight Bradley, Smith, Salka, whatever. He is not really a person of interest anymore.

Re: Mexican Boxers Show Us The Way It Should Be Done
The idea that someone is a fan of Canelo's if they check his tweets is incredibly stupid.
So let's say I occasionally visit his page to see if he's tweeted anything new, respond to his new tweets with abuse about him not fighting GGG, don't buy any of his PPVs or merchandise, and actively discourage friends, family, and other forum posters from shelling out $$$ for his fights, resulting in a few not ordering them when they initially were.
I'm still a fan of Canelo's simply because I check his tweets?

You all can pretend like you dont care what Canelo does but you guys will still be there talking about him and team ggg will still know they need Canelo.

Re: Mexican Boxers Show Us The Way It Should Be Done
The only reason we talk about Canelo in this thread, because he is a disgrace of a Mexican. Thanks God, most of Mexican boxers are more like Salido and Vargas than like Cowardnello.
The main reason we have talked about Canelo that much in other threads is that he was supposed to fight GGG before he peed his pants.

That's exactly what I am hoping for, thank you. If Canelo and GB are waiting until GGG starts to show some deterioration from age then they will have years to withstand this kind of thing daily. That's the way it should be.boxing_rocks wrote:Any Canelo's tweet is now followed by former fans letting him know about their disappointment.
