Decent fight, this. Robinson starts very measured then goes through the gears in the middle rounds, really sinks in the bodyshots.

An enjoyable fight. Robinson was very fit and wore down Hoko.

My favourite fight of this time has to be Robinson v Davison. More evenly matched, bigger punches landed and punishing as well as being a huge upset.

I read Davison's book on holiday a few years ago.it was pretty funny but im led to believe it was a but exaggerated, mind you ,he does claim every one of his losses were a robbery

I've read it. A cracking read.

The cover is misleading because it's apparently about a "world champion boxer." And Davison does make it a hard luck story, I.e.he trained for Palacios, and the switch of opponent/date/whatever threw him, burned him out already preventing him from winning the world title shot when it came...

BUT, as a blow by blow account of his impressive amateur career, and above all some truly bruising boxing matches - some absolute wars versus Thais and Koreans as well as Brits - it's a riveting book. He really makes a narrative of these fights, admits when he was hurt, when he knew he had the guy, and how he was feeling afterward.

Davison was never to be a world champ. What made him a success as an amateur, that he was a filled out, mature bloke before turning pro, and his tendency to have a war, left him maybe with a limited window as a pro to make his mark.

I love his fights with Driscoll, Sorpakdee, Robinson, Benichou,

Hoko had the look of someone who didn't want to be there. He was one on my favourite fighters in the late 80s. But that fight he wasn't motivated for anything less than the payday.

Great fight and a tough night for Hodkinson,it really got rough weather for him,i actually thought the commentary were ignoring a lot of his earlier work especially to the body but Robinson took over by the halfway point and had Paul looking shook up numerous times, fair play to him though he always came firing back and it was a shame he never made it to the end, great finish by Robinson

I loved Hodkinson's "Nicks" shorts he wore in the Cruz fight, you got crucified at my school if you wore anything Nicks

Pretty easy win for Hoko,Steve obviously a shell of the fighter who beat McGuigan

I really like Hoko. Underrated fighter. Fragile skin though. I was really hoping he would beat Robbi. But I remember when he walked in the ringwalk, his eyes looked unconvincing. Like he knew there was something missing.

109-101 Robinson

Robinson was very sharp and quite possibly made Hodkinson look more passed it than he really was.

Robinson - Hodkinson

1. 10 - 9 - Robinson, nice tight defense and tidy work
2. 10 - 9 - Robinson. Hodkinson doesn't seem to have the imagination to find away to disturb that tight defense or the quickness of thought to counter when Robinson opens up
3. 10 - 9 - Robinson. more success for Hodkinson but still catching gloves. Eye catching combo from Robinson nicked it
4. 9 - 10 - Hodkinson timing his shots much better and finding gaps. Good round for him
5. 10 - 10 - Hodkinson winning first half, then Robinson hurt him but it ended as a bit of a war. Good to and fro to the round
6. 10 - 9 - Robinson really went to work at times during that round. Have to worry when someone eats 8 consecutive straight punches
7. 10 - 9 - Robinson finding him easily with the jab and landing those straight combinations. Doesn't have to work for openings.
8. 10 - 9 - Robinson teeing off, backing up Hodkinson and even winning the inside battle, ended up unloading towards the end. Could have gone 10-8
9. 10 - 9 - Robinson, first minute he was all over him, took a breather then took control again at the end of the round. doing as he pleases now
10. 10 - 9 - Robinson, becoming a 'brave' effort from Hodkinson, taking punishment and still throwing. Robinson putting more dig into single shots
11. 10 - 9 - Robinson dishing out a beating now
12. TKO. Seldom felt for a fighter as much as I did there, still had spring in his step going into the round, still trying to get into the fight and kept throwing. A brave effort and hard to watch his legs betray him.

109-101 Robinson and winning the last round.
One of the best tight defenses I've seen. Often that tight hands up defense invites people to throw but he worked well behind it.
Ultimately Hodkinson was too easy to hit there.
