Demetrius Andrade v GGG
Re: Demetrius Andrade v GGG
Andrade is a good fighter. The last man to beat him was Shawn Porter. The last man to beat Porter was Kell Brook who doesn't seem to get much credit on here.
Re: Demetrius Andrade v GGG
I wasn't aware he was stopped in the amateurs. Didn't Beterbiev beat him in the amateurs?crusader wrote:You can definitely make a case, and IMO Kov has beaten better opposition too, though he's been down, was knocked out in the amateurs, and has looked more vulnerable at times than GGG has.lefty wrote:I personally think Kovalev is more rounded than Golovkin but I understand the appeal.
GGG is thus easier to sell as an unstoppable monster.

Yes I believe he stopped him.Stuarty30 wrote:I wasn't aware he was stopped in the amateurs. Re: Demetrius Andrade v GGG
Yes true, but I think Lee was flattered by that win, Korobov was getting to him before he got caught and Korobov does leave himself open and his chin is not the best, if they fought again, Korobov could well beat him, he was favorite for the fight.lefty wrote:Yeah but that's amateur boxing to be fair. Beterbiev didn't stop Kovalev---he beat him on points 25-24.
I know GGG and Kovalev sparred, but I wasn't aware they fought as amateurs.

Re: Demetrius Andrade v GGG
When I say more well rounded I mean in regards to hitting and not being hit back. Neither are complete masters of that but generally speaking I think Kovalev tenda to avoid punches better than Golovkin does.gilgamesh wrote:I don't think he's more well rounded, but he has better wins on his resume.lefty wrote:I personally think Kovalev is more rounded than Golovkin but I understand the appeal.
Re: Demetrius Andrade v GGG
Beterbiev beat Kovalev twice in the Amateurs and I think Golokin beat Kovalev in the Amateurs.crusader wrote:Beterbiev didn't stop Kovalev---he beat him on points 25-24.

Re: Demetrius Andrade v GGG
Links? I've done some digging and I can't find any mention of them fighting as amateurs. Kovalev openly admits to losing in the ams against Beterbiev and Korobov and says he turned pro because he couldn't get past them, although he disputes the decision in at least one of the Beterbiev fights. Obviously we all know Kov and GGG sparred. Abel Sanchez should have no problem with GGG going to 175 seeing as he hadled Kovalev so easily before...Anzi wrote:Beterbiev beat Kovalev twice in the Amateurs and I think Golokin beat Kovalev in the Amateurs.crusader wrote:Beterbiev didn't stop Kovalev---he beat him on points 25-24.

Re: Demetrius Andrade v GGG
Andrade should stay in 154. Plenty of fights there for him, plenty to prove before he considers moving up. After all it, was him who pulled out from Charlo fight. Let him win titles and unify if he can.

Re: Demetrius Andrade v GGG
I'd much rather see Lara-Andrade. That fight would really decide the man at 154 unless Canelo drops back down.
Re: Demetrius Andrade v GGG
You sure about that? It has been widely reported that they sparred but I've never seen any mention of them fighting as amateurs.Anzi wrote:GGG beat Kovalev in the amateurs, though Kovalev is a bigger man now.crusader wrote:You can definitely make a case, and IMO Kov has beaten better opposition too, though he's been down, was knocked out in the amateurs, and has looked more vulnerable at times than GGG has.lefty wrote:I personally think Kovalev is more rounded than Golovkin but I understand the appeal.

Re: Demetrius Andrade v GGG
Brilliant fighter, sits in the pocket nice, good defense, good power and speed, nice movement, that's why he would be a good match-up for Golokin and even Alvarez.Tarkus wrote:http://vringe.com/video/92724-video-boy ... d-1080.htmlefty wrote:Can't find the fight bloody anywhere online... Re: Demetrius Andrade v GGG
ggg will ko him. andrade got shaken badly in the middle of the fight ,Willie Nelson caught him took him a while to shake it off , if that was triple g he would of been on the floor
Re: Demetrius Andrade v GGG
That's boxing maths. It doesn't work like that.BigDoofus wrote:Andrade is a good fighter. The last man to beat him was Shawn Porter. The last man to beat Porter was Kell Brook who doesn't seem to get much credit on here.

Re: Demetrius Andrade v GGG
I actually think Andrade might be the best fighter at 154. Lara is the only guy I being a threat and I don't think he's as well rounded as Andrade who can fight a bit on the inside aswell as boxing at range.
Re: Demetrius Andrade v GGG
i thought he looked good against willie, but willie tagged him a couple of times in the middle rounds one really hurt Andrade and if that was triple g fight overlefty wrote:I actually think Andrade might be the best fighter at 154. True! Do you remember when Lara got dropped heavily and badly hurt by Angulo though aswell?brilo33 wrote:i thought he looked good against willie, but willie tagged him a couple of times in the middle rounds one really hurt Andrade and if that was triple g fight overlefty wrote:I actually think Andrade might be the best fighter at 154. Re: Demetrius Andrade v GGG
not sure what your getting at you mean lara got up and won. but triple g hits harder and people dont get up. i mean Andrade done well held and got out of trouble, just if golovkin hits him he is going downlefty wrote:True! Re: Demetrius Andrade v GGG
Yeah I think Andrade could beat everyone at 154 right now as well. Lara would get outworked by him in all likelihood, and I think Andrade could just flat out outbox The Charlos.lefty wrote:I actually think Andrade might be the best fighter at 154. Re: Demetrius Andrade v GGG
Wasn't Andrade due to fight Korobov and pulled out then Lee stepped in? I had Korobov winning comfortably against Lee until he got caught. Taking nothing away from Lee though. It was an excellent win and a smashing finish.Anzi wrote:Yes true, but I think Lee was flattered by that win, Korobov was getting to him before he got caught and Korobov does leave himself open and his chin is not the best, if they fought again, Korobov could well beat him, he was favorite for the fight.lefty wrote:Yeah but that's amateur boxing to be fair. Re: Demetrius Andrade v GGG
Yes, Andrade had contract disputes with Rock nation, he was offered to fight Korobov for the vacant WBO Middleweight title, with only 15 days to negotiate, but decided to stay at Super Welterweight and defend his title. Andrade ended up not fighting for a year and was stripped of his Super welterweight title by the WBO. A lot of fights are not made at world level, because of money, options and conditions, which is a shame, but Boxing is big business, at the end of the day.Stuarty30 wrote:Wasn't Andrade due to fight Korobov and pulled out then Lee stepped in?
