What it Danny Garcia waiting for?

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

He last fought Robert Guerrero in January to win the vacant world title. He could have easily fought by now or set up a fight with Brook. Something tells me he is scared to box or lose his '0'. Is he planning to fight once this year? If he's to fight in October or September, surely he must be in negotiations by now. Anyone here know what he's doing?

Who should he fight next?

Amir Khan (Mandatory)
Timothy Bradley Jr. Last fought in April, so should be available.
Andre Berto
Sammy Vasquez last fought January
Antonio Orozco ranked #1 Mexican welterweight

Strong rumours suggest he's in line to be Floyds comeback opponent in September.

No point risking anything before then.

What do you expect from him after the Salka fight - probably the worst matchup of a top fighter in the last few years? Haymon will keep finding him the softest possible opposition unless Floyd picks him.

Who knows what will happen, Mayweather is going on about fighting McGregor, hasn't mentioned Garcia since.. Garcia should fight someone else that can help get him money.. like Khan

Garcia is irrelevant at WW. He is avoiding everyone that is good. He moved up to avoid the mandatory fight with Postol. That says everything you need to know about him.

Many of Al's fighters sit around. Resume wise Garcia is easily top 5 in the sport. I remember reading on here how he was too much of a pussy to fight Lucas. he'll be beating on Berto next.

Khan is too chicken hearted to fight Brook.. Thurman.. Spence.. Porter.. or even Danny again.

But Danny seems almost as chicken hearted.. Let's have a fight with Spence, Brook, or the winner of Thurman-Porter you coward.

Yeah I'm thinking Berto as well. Then he might fight the Thurman/Porter winner 2 years after anybody cares.

Sounds about right, I have to think that's his handlers more than him.

Considering Garica hasn't fought a particularly dangerous opponent since Matthysse (well Peterson I guess) I think it's partly him.

Oddly enough, I was going to post about Danny Garcia, but hadn't gotten around to it.

At first, I was pretty disappointed at how Garcia's career completely stalled and I was more than ready to blame him and his team. But truthfully, Danny Garcia took on Khan and knocked him out when beating Khan was still held in very high regard and when facing him was thought of as a dangerous fight. Yes, I am sure that it represented a great opportunity for Garcia, but going back to that time, I think a majority of those that follow the sport felt he would probably lose and losing doesn't make you a ton of money in boxing except in very rare cases. So, while the reward was good, the risk was there as well.

Then Garcia stepped up and faced a guy that nobody was anxious to fight in Matthysse. Again, at the time, many felt he would lose so there was substantial risk. And, given Matthysse's power and offensive capability, there was a decent chance that Garcia could have gotten himself KTFO and that certainly wouldn't have helped his career. Instead, he won. I have said many times, the modern "title shot" is a PPV slot against a mega star in boxing. If anybody deserved a "title shot" in recent memory, it's Danny Garcia; he earned it. And personally, I think it sucks that he didn't get it. I am still disappointed at his list of recent opponents, but I don't blame him for trying to secure a big money fight. He put himself on the line and he earned that money, I think he kind of got shafted a bit.

He is looking for how to duck anyone with a chance and not get ripped for fighting easy. In other words "risk-reward". Berto would fill the bill nicely.

This will only be DG's 3rd fight at 147, so a fight with Berto seems decent. A lot of you guys question his heart, but until he shows he lacks it, I think he can put up with casual fan criticisms. I do admit Salka was a crap fight. He was game to fight Khan in a rematch, but apparently Khan broke his hand in the Canelo fight?

I was most hopeful of him vs Crawford when they were trading words. They split in the amateurs so may be a good fight. (that I would favor Crawford to win)

Danny Garica will face Andre Berto next and assuming he emerges victorious, he’ll be obliged to face his mandatory challenger, Amir Khan sometime around May of 2017. The Brit is scheduled to make his ring return, in a warm-up bout, during January of next year.

If anyone was smart they'd fight Vasquez at that new hockey rink at pen state. I hate joe paternos guts. May he rot in hell...but pen state is about 1/2 way between Pittsburgh ans Philly. An all PA showdown will be a big draw and the place will sell out. Vasquez will crush Garcia. Hell...I'd even make the drive.
