I'll sit out this week too as i just watched all 3 fights between these 2 a couple of months ago,all great fights and a superb trilogy,1st fight was the best actually but as i said the other 2 are great too

I did the same recently. Great, intense battles.

Harding's body work was underrated in this fight. He was losing rounds alright but he was wearing down Andries, whose bludgeoning and damaging shots also took a lot of energy out of him.

Anyone else think Steward's plan - to close in and be more aggressive, and telling Dennis he was behind - led to the fade of Andries?

Andries' stoppage revenge win in Australia was astonishing. And the third fight was outstanding also, very hard to pick a winner. Perhaps surprisingly, the visitor's less showy work earned the decision in England (at a time when we lost a few close ones at home, e.g. Canizales v Hardy).

the crowd were also pretty neutral and generous towards both men's efforts, IIRC

I must say it was hard to score, the third fight and the only one in the series to go the distance. I did like the body punching of Harding. The left hook to the body was Jeff's best punch; he got much more leverage on it than any other shot in his repertoire. Harding's short punches were more consistent whereas Andries's power shots really were driven home, with extra authority.

I really loved Harding. And this is the battle of the warriors. I think maybe the last one was a draw which wouldn't been perfect.

Also as I remember, Harding mistimed the count in the second fight.

Unfortunately I believe Harding is in a bad way, due to alcoholism. Anyone have an update.

Harding was wasted in that rematch in Australia. He was practically nailed to the floor. Andries rallied back from a beating to pulverise him.

Just my opinion but the 2nd fight makes the other two look tame by comparison.

Watched Andries's fight with Willis ,i dont think ive ever seen a fighter hold as much as Tony did,especially so early in a fight,well maybe up at HW i have,Willis looked good 1st round,he had the herky jerky style but looked sharp but then just made a mess of the fight and i was glad Andries stopped him,he was the only 1 trying to fight,good finish too

I think I scored it wider for Harding than most people would. Harding seemed to be doing the less flashy, but more consistent work and it seemed to be having more effect than Andries' work. Very good fight.

That Willis guy was a bum.

Andries - Harding

1. 10 - 9
2. 10 - 9
3. 10 - 10
4. 10 - 9 - Wide round, hardings skull must be made of concrete
5. 10 - 9 - probably not a knockdown
6. 10 - 9 Andries did enough but tiring and Hardings body shots doing the damage
7. 9 - 10 - Andries took the foot off the gas in the second half. lo0t of punches getting through for both men though.
8. 9 - 10 - This is brutal
9. 10 - 10 - first time for a couple rounds that Andries is has found reserves in the second half of the round
10. 10 - 9 - I preferred Andries work in this one
11. 9 - 10 - I had Andries ahead until he got hurt, Harding nicked it in the last minute
12. TKO, Andries in trouble from the second he got off his stool, not recovered from the last round, hurt early and probably went down through exhaustion as much as being hurt.

107-104 Andries going into the 12th.

Andries looked the better fighter, although no technical genius himself.
Harding was just a blunt instrument. Tough as hell, cracking chin, heart and stamina, blocked punches expertly with his face and hit fairly hard.
The rounds that Andries dropped, the 7th and 8th, he ran out of steam and the 11th he got hurt while ahead. I suspect a late 20's Andries might have had the beating of Harding.

But credit to Harding, he would not be deterred, I doubt even a younger Andries could have stopped him this night (I know he did a year later, but Harding looked like you could have hit hit with a truck in this fight and he'd have kept coming.)
He showed great heart and wore Andries down and got a solid stoppage win

Fine battle, but not one for the purists
