When Kovalev fights Ward, who will you be rooting for and why?

Only kovalev will be tested. Ward is allowed to take anything he wants, select relatives as officials and load his gloves. :TU:

This is exactly why I started a master thread for this fight. Instead we'll have 500 different masterbation threads with agendas.

Actually, in a fair fight Kovalev wins easily.

He'll probably even win if Ward cheats in various ways.

Freedom2013 wrote:Sergey Kovalev and Jean Pascal were tested by VADA since November in the weeks leading up to their rematch. According to VADA, both fighters are clean.

But Andre Ward has refused to do random drug testing in the past (for example, during the Super Six and before the fight with Rodriguez).

Is it possible that Ward will agree to VADA testing for his fight with Kovalev?

If this fight actually happens then I'm first and foremost hoping for a good fight, I will be leaning towards Kovalev as I think exciting fighters like him are great to watch and great for the sport.

Exactly, thank you. There's no sense yapping about a fight that is not likely happening. I honestly never understood how high people ranked Ward in P4P polls. I just don't get it. He won a tournament against some better than average pro's. What else has he done exactly? His last significant fight was in 2011 vs. Froch. I don't know why i'm typing this as it has nothing to do with this OP. lol. sorry.

But, if Ward does get in there with Kovalev in November, win or lose, I will change the way i feel about him completely. That is one ballsy move, dumping the SM belt and moving up to fight the baddest LH we've seen in a long time. Respect will be given.

Where is it taking place? Great fight; Ward is a super technical fighter, but IMO (if not in Oakland) Kovalev KOs him.

Really hope Kovalev wins.

Stylistically he is more pleasing on the eye.

Really hope the fight happens and it's not in Wards back yard.

This is a fantastic matchup. I'd rather Kovalev to win, but if Ward won and then fought GGG at 168lb, I'd be just as happy with that. At the moment, I'm slightly leaning towards a Kovalev win.

Ward, mostly because so many Eastern Europeans root against the Americans, it makes it more fun to root for the fellow American. Otherwise I really wouldn't care that much to tell you the truth. Its kind of a reaction.

I'm not rooting for either guy. Let the best man win and all that. If Ward does pull it off though he's gonna have to go down as one of the ATG's for sure though. I think he already is that anyway in fairness but it would solidify it.

I really don't care for either guy. Ward is a bore and Kovalev is a nasty piece of work. I just hope that it's a fair fight and there is no funny business if it goes to the cards.

Really like both guys so it's a tough one to call. I think Kovalev slightly edges it due to Ward's inactivity but anyhow, may the best man win!

The size difference is interesting to me because Kovalev is obviously the naturally the bigger man but I always remember Froch who was physically strong himself saying he was shocked at how strong ward was in the clinches. He said there wasn't much on his punches but that he was a strong bastard. Intetesting to see how that dynamic plays out at the weight class above.
