Briggs certainly has more chance than De Mori or the unpronounceable guy.... I reckon Shannon, esp if he has any brain, will jump on Haye and try to KO him ASAP.

In would suggest that is his best chance. Looking forward to seeing the odds.

it's funny, i watched Briggs' undercard fight and was shocked how fast and powerful he looked straight from the bell.

Did anyone else think this or was it just me? Obviously he was in with a scrub, but I was expecting slow, immobile, shot. If he comes out swinging like that vs Haye he still looks to have some pop to trouble him.

Briggs KO1 anyone? If I can get 40/1 or better I might go for it. Briggs will probably start as a 1/10 underdog so this seems reasonable.

Add to this the fact that Haye just seems like a celebrity these days. Does he really have much hunger any more? Shannon the Cannon is broke and has been parading the world trying to get a fight. He is a marketing machine on a roll, full of, uh, beans, and will be up for it! Let's Go Champ KO1!!!

Haye should be ready for an onslaught. It sounds crazy, but who has Haye really fought at heavyweight who can bang like Briggs? Obviously Wlad, but Wlad didn't throw any punches for Haye to actually worry about. The punch is the last thing to go, and Briggs could come out firing. It's very likely of course that he will gas quickly, but it might be interesting if he does take it to Haye.

It's not likely, but it would just be a speculative punt if the price is right.

This is gonna be the thing. After 2 rounds Briggs is gonna be absolutely spent. I expect Haye to be extremely cautious early on and then stop him in about round 4.

Briggs is very dangerous early on. He had Lennox Lewis in all sorts of bother.

It is good that Haye is fighting 3 x in a year, although the quality of opposition hasn't been strong, it will mean three training camps, which is great after so long out..

that lewis fight was a lifetime ago tho. agree with haye having regular camps, they seem to be taking the foreman approach to coming back.

There's an 18-year-old with me here who wasn't born when that fight happened.

OK, Haye's opposition hasn't been much better, but he is much younger & fresher than Briggs, who is now almost as old as space itself.

I admit Haye is probably better, but Shannon's last opponend simply made it to the 7th round against Gjergjaj for example. Yet for world contenders he's a bum, but it's not like he was a complete joke compared to most opponends Haye fights. He won against Gonzalo Omar Basile for example.

Hype doesn't get to me.

Folk still don't seem to understand that this could be a viable punt, depending on price. It doesn't mean I necessarily think Briggs by KO1 is likely. Just that the price might be better than the chance the bookies are likely to give it.

Also, you don't necessarily need Briggs to be fighting Ali to make basic assessments of how his speed and pop are doing these days compared to a younger version. He definitely had some handspeed and power in there compared to how I thought he would look.

Also it's worth noting that Haye looked very uncomfortable at times under the pressure of Derek Chisora.

Haye will put him away.

Briggs is tough and can take a shot.. he'll also be dangerous early. But Haye will land and land more often as the fight goes on... and that big mango head Briggs owns will crack.
