Gary Cornish Commonwealth title shot....

Post by jameswilson »

....in Canada in the Autumn against a guy who beat Razor Ruddock (yes that Razor Ruddock who is now in his 50s) in his last fight.

Give Cornish some credit he landed a decent shot on Joshua which is more than you can say for world titlist Charles Martin, although Charles does have a lovely gold grill in his mouth

Cornish won't win. Carman is sturdy & willing. He'll squash Cornish, probably faster than he did Ruddock, whose Smash, unbelievably, could still audibly slice the air.

Carman is a very entertaining fighter, and his bout with Bahoeli in particular is one to watch, with Carman going down 3 times and Bahoeli going down 4.

He doesn't take a good shot but he can certainly give one, and considering that Cornish doesn't have much power to exploit his frgaility Carman's dig may be enough. I'll take him via stoppage.

very poor commonwealth matchup.

Carmen is one of those semi-retired circus sluggers.

its hard to like anyone who takes a fight like the Ruddock one. thoroughly embarrassing, and a true gauge of the guy's actual ability !!!!

Cornish has the long way to go to redeem his reputation after the abject performance against Joshua.

but in fairness to Cornish it looks like he's having a warm up fight before the Carman fight....probably a good idea.

Really hope Cornish wins.

I think he's around commonwealth level and think he could scrape through but will probably lose via stoppage.

I hope Cornish gets KO'd. I was at an awards show with my mate who boxed under Gilmour at the time a few years ago and he came across a total ball bag. Up accepting some specifically made up award to boost his ego. His 'speech' was cringeworthy and afterwards he was swanning around like a Scottish Aldi version of a Klitschko. No thanks.

What was cringeworthy about his acceptance speech by way of interest?

Can't remember it word for word but he didn't come across the most humble or down to earth of guys considering he hadn't actually done anything of note to merit recieving an award.

If the public demand it then I am sure Haye will oblige and make the fight.

I don't know about you guys but I can't walk down the street without somebody stopping me to ask when Haye is going to take on Cornish.

It's the exact same over my way! The pubs are awash with talk of Haye/Cornish. I can't go for a pint of milk without hearing about it. There were two old ladies arguing at the bus stop the other day about it! Haye/Cornish fever is an epidemic!
