Ian Lewison fighting in China this Friday?
Ian Lewison fighting in China this Friday?
Maybe I'm way behind on this one, but according to http://boxrec.com/show/734937 , he's boxing on Friday in Nanning in China for the WBO Asia Pacific title. Is this even true? If so, it seems like a strange fight for the local "prospect" to take, as Lewison looks a bit too good for him. If it is true, hope Lewison is being paid well, gets a win and enjoys the sights of Nanning. This fight may be the biggest event there since the 2006 Robotics Olympiad (thanks, Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanning).

Bigger than any city in the UK outside of London, plenty will be going on there.olij999 wrote: This fight may be the biggest event there since the 2006 Robotics Olympiad (thanks, Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanning).
That and it will be sweltering down there, Lewison should beat him if he is acclimatised, it will be as humid as fornicate down there.

No doubt, given the 6m population, but in that case they really need to work on their Wikipedia entry.Fat Git wrote:Bigger than any city in the UK outside of London, plenty will be going on there.olij999 wrote: This fight may be the biggest event there since the 2006 Robotics Olympiad (thanks, Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanning).

Good to see Lewison active, his career has been a waste of talent and I doubt it will come to anything now. I hope he wins and uses it as a springboard to getting some good domestic fights which could form part of a potentially cracking UK scene. The only worry here is Lewisons conditioning in the heat for a 12 round fight as in his last fight he was still very heavy.

A 2nd round Ko for Lewison at 249 ILbs ! lets hope he gets fit and goes after some serious opposition.
Re: Ian Lewison fighting in China this Friday?
Good win and a worthwhile trip for Lewinson then. He's got the talent to get right in amongst the domestic mix if he's got his head screwed on. Knocking on a bit now considering he's not had that many fights.

Good for him. Always nice to see British fighters winning abroad.rm1 wrote:A 2nd round Ko for Lewison at 249 ILbs ! lets hope he gets fit and goes after some serious opposition.

I'm guessing there weren't any odds available on this fight.

I read somewhere that the lad he knocked out was a late replacement - does anyone have any more information on that?

Supposed to be fighting Dennis Bakhtov who failed a drug test hence the Chinese.Gnome wrote:I read somewhere that the lad he knocked out was a late replacement - does anyone have any more information on that?
I wonder how long before Lewison gets another fight as a talented and hard hitting heavy without a high ranking he seems to be avoided. He desperately needs to get in the domestic and European mix soon.
