Awful opponent. The fight has 'first round knockout' written all over it. I'm interested to see whether this is the fight that starts to poison the public against Joshua, as the casuals begin to realise how frequently these undefeated record tags go hand in hand with an inept, clueless looking fighter who collapses every time he gets hit.

No. Not paying for this shite.
Might walk to my local for 9 and watch murray then Joshua but that'll only be if I'm feeling energetic or bored

Yes, we're having people round for a BBQ during the day should England win there group they will play at 5 then I'll pay to have the fight on after that I live in Watford so most people would have an intrest in the Joshua fight even if they have no interest in boxing. I'm personally looking forward to the Groves/Murray fight and would want to watch this fight and it would cost me a lot more than £16 in a pub.

It's amazing that he ever wins a fight. He must not get hit very often.Tuan_Jim wrote:clueless looking fighter who collapses every time he gets hit.

Re: Are You Buying The Anthony Joshua vs. Dominic Breazeale PPV?
waste of money.
hard to see it going past round 2
I'm not hugely anti Breazeale, he's been crudely effective so far, my biggest gripe is that the ratings for these baubles are so corrupt and fighters get 'title' shots within 15 fights and haven't really got out of novice stage.
Whyte might be good if its against Sexton. but not against some crap import

No it should be on Dave! Disgrace of a ppv
Re: Are You Buying The Anthony Joshua vs. Dominic Breazeale PPV?
Might go round my parent's and skank it off them. I could order it over my Virgin box, but they've had some problems previously getting Sky Sports in my block of flats. May get somebody else to pay for it, and run the risk.
The other consideration is, of course, that the main event is a nothing match. The Groves fight is the one that is more interesting. The Eubank won maybe, if it was on freeview. Not really a PPV card, unless I can find somebody else mug enough to pay for it.

I updated my Kodi so I'll try for a stream. If it's pish I'll just watch the last 16 Euro game on ITV and catch the highlights online the following day. I used to buy all the PPVs but enough is enough.

No way in god's green earth I'd pay for this tripe. All of Joshua's fights will be PPV from here on in.

My days of buying ppv or indeed sky sports are gone and never to return.
I'll watch it on kodi but like most it's Groves v Murray I want to see. The main event is a nothing fight but you never know it may take
Someone not much better than Brazeale to beat Joshua.

Re: Are You Buying The Anthony Joshua vs. Dominic Breazeale PPV?
No way for this one. Not enough quality.
Re: Are You Buying The Anthony Joshua vs. Dominic Breazeale PPV?
People think this is a bad PPV! In Australia Danny Green is fighting a bloke called Kane Watts for some kind of Australian title and it's a fair chance to be PPV for $49.99 that's about £25...
on the other hand Joshua fight is free but the card starts 3am Sunday morning!

I'm saving my PPV money, so I can fly to Australia to watch that.

Re: Are You Buying The Anthony Joshua vs. Dominic Breazeale PPV?
Does anyone else think this PPV is going to be a total flop?
Brexit dominating front pages, Euro 2016 and Rugby dominating back pages...
Even Murdoch paper the Sun which usually pushes Sky a lot, there's been barely a peep.
And with Breazale being as much of a threat to Joshua as a bowl of porridge, I just can't see many sales. Maybe more than Khan-IrishGuyMCSomethingIcantRememberWhoHadASillyNickName (mccluskey??).
But I reckon it will be a flop, even with Barry Hearn telling us in his dogsh1t column that it will be this generation's Hagler-Hearns and a night to tell our Grandchildren about.

Re: Are You Buying The Anthony Joshua vs. Dominic Breazeale PPV?
I did a Google search the other day for pubs showing it in Croydon, in case I'd rather spend my money on beer than give it to Eddie. Nowhere was advertising it, usually there's one or two places with adverts on their website. I e-mailed one, and they replied that they were showing it.reggaereggae wrote:Does anyone else think this PPV is going to be a total flop?

This being a pub who has ordered it, but had made no mention of it on their website. Make of that what you will.

It cost a lot of money for pubs to publicly show a PPV fight so surely they would've promoted it through all the resources they have to them by now.ILikeBeer wrote:I did a Google search the other day for pubs showing it in Croydon, in case I'd rather spend my money on beer than give it to Eddie. Sounds like they ain't showing the fight and instead will apologise to you and hope you buy a beer while you're there. They just might risk that cos that's a slap on the wrist mistake. If it does turn out like that, make them regret it. Cause a big scene verbally and for as long as you can without swearing lol.

When it does flop though Hearn will have a ready made excuse instead of the horrific opposition being the main factor.

Hearn won't admit it's been a flop, even if it is.Supremo wrote:When it does flop though Hearn will have a ready made excuse instead of the horrific opposition being the main factor.

He'll say Groves vs Murray didn't sell as well as he'd hoped.Supremo wrote:When it does flop though Hearn will have a ready made excuse instead of the horrific opposition being the main factor.
Re: Are You Buying The Anthony Joshua vs. Dominic Breazeale PPV?
Definitely not buying this PPV this time around and hope all the casuals don't too to show Hearn these type of cards are not acceptable on PPV. will either stream or watch them all next day. more competitive fight to get up for over night on normal Sky in Thurman vs porter anyway.
Re: Are You Buying The Anthony Joshua vs. Dominic Breazeale PPV?
The headliner will be aimed at male casuals, with the Groves vs Murray trade fight squarely aimed at pure boxing fans.
The danger though, is that whilst casuals are happy to dump £17 on a show - but equally (as they are casuals) - they have no issue skipping a show if they think it will be another 1-round destruction.
The type of punters that I'm describing will moan about the undercard, not because of the quality but simply because they want it to finish to watch the main event. You might get a percentage that will enjoy it but not really know who is fighting on the undercard, but mainly what I'm saying is true.
I've actually spoken to a few mates who fit perfectly into the above description and it's half and half who is buying the event. Despite it being a world title fight last time, many felt underwhelmed for sitting through an undercard for ages then it all being over in the blink of an eye and I get the feeling that because nobody has heard of this guy they might pass on it.
One interesting thing my mate said, was that he might buy it - but it depended on his mrs allowing more sport on the television as he'd already had more than his share of football on lately.
Overall it will not be a flop, but likely it wont hit the heights of the Charles Martin fight. I think the public perceived the unknown nature of Martin as being somewhat of an unknown quantity who could be dangerous , whereas this time I sense they think he's unknown but a bum. Who knows if they are right or wrong until after the fight.
At the end of the day, Joshua can name his price and any promoter would snap him up. For him to remain on Sky's boxing model, they have to pay him accordingly and thus they have to chuck him on box office for every fight now. Even if they aren't making the mega bucks off him at the moment, a fight with Fury or Wilder or Haye will draw in a huge amount of money and interest and could even start approaching Wembley sized audiences. So that will be the TV networks strategy, to keep him looking sensational, well paid , hopefully learning and improving until the 'Big One'.
At the end of the day this is heavyweight boxing, it's almost another sport in the casual's minds and it's would be bad business NOT to charge for an unbeaten Olympian with an IBF world title draped over his shoulder.

Re: Are You Buying The Anthony Joshua vs. Dominic Breazeale PPV?
With a lot of casuals I think they only look at the A side fighter and don't really mind who there fighting against and if anything would rather quick kncok outs rather than a back and forth 10/12 rounder . Obviously Joshua is a massive pull, Groves will be well known from his fights with Froch, Eubank and Benn are both big names through there dads, Ogogo from the olympics and also is on mainstream tv quite a bit and even Whyte will be known due to his fight with Joshua so from a casual point of view its a good card.
