Chris Eubank Jr may face Gennady Golovkin next!

Post by psychod1986 »

Golovkin one of the best pound 4 pound fighters in the world, rather fight Chris Eubank Jr over Billy Joe Saunders & Canelo Alvarez.I hear that Chris Eubank offers a bigger payday fight, then Saunders, does i guess thats why triple g,rather fight Eubank. Also wouldn't mind watching Golovkin fighting Eubank,I believe Eubank can compete, the guy can fight his A## off,he can box & he can brawl and go toe to toe.I think this would be a very interesting fight, especially if Eubank fights smart.

Loefler said that he talked with Warren, and BJS doesn't really want to fight Golovkin. We also know that Canelo already scheduled his next fight and is now looking for another little guy as an opponent.

Eubank has a fight this Saturday. Expected to win, but one of those that could turn into a awkward nights work.

He'll either blast Doran out early, or have one of those long tricky nights that it's hard to look good in.

I agree. GGG/Eubank is the best fight to make right now at 160. Eubank is an enigma of sorts and he just might have that odd combination of skill and crazy to compete unlike the others have in the ring with GGG. No one wants to see BJS and GGG, not even BJS and he's said as much. That's a fight GGG easily wins.

GGG vs. Jacobs might be THE best fight to make for GGG but for some odd reason, he's decided to give Mora another shot at the title. I know he caught Jacobs and dropped him but that was as lucky a punch as you will see. DJ will destroy Mora.

Unfortunately, no one can be forced into the ring to fight GGG. This isn't the UFC unfortunately. Imagine the fights we'd be seeing each weekend if it were? Holy.

At the level Junior is fighting at, it looks like he can do all of these things. The brawling and toe to toe will certainly be reigned in once he takes a few from Golovkin and I don't believe he'll be out boxing him for the full distance either. I can see a similar fight to that of Judah-Witter, in that very quickly he'll realise he's out of his league and do anything to last the distance.

Exactly this. It's all about levels.

Eubank is at least at Saunders/Lee/Quillin level, and he is improving. A lot will depend on his stamina and chin quality.

Decent fight, but I don't think Eubank is significantly better than Lemieux and I sure hope they don't think I'm paying PPV money for this.

Eubank Jr is a very serious and studious boxer... I think he got a reputation for being a cold blooded puncher and destroyer who would walk through punches to knock people out... GGG had the same undeserved reputation before his David Lemieux fight... Facing a puncher he changed tactics and jabbed the Hell out of him...

Since the Saunders fight 2 years ago Eubank has been concentrating on the jab and other aspects of his game -- but I thought he was supposed to fight Tom Doran on Saturday. If he gets rid of him quickly maybe the fight can be made reasonably soon.

Did you see that fight? Sure Zab deserved to win but just by one point, Zab was lucky that Witter wasn't better prepared otherwise he would have lost his title that night, in the first few rounds Witter was frustrating the hell out of Zab and having his way with him.
Of course I did.. Look He was all nervous energy as per normal but after 4 or 5 rounds that dropped with Judah just followed him around as he had all fight. Judah wasn't worried by his power and Witter had given up trying to land the lucky punch. Junior was good in the first few rounds as he had the energy to move and hit. After that he went into a defence shell with his usual frustrating switching and posing. I wouldn't be surprised if most of Zab's punches were the reason he got on his bike. I seem to remember at one point Zab hit him hard enough to shoot his gum shield out of the ring.

I acknowledge that Witter took this fight very late and may not have been fit enough. That said he always claimed to live in the gym so I'm sure he was.

The point of this is to get to the GGG fight. Eubank may look ok for a few rounds until he realises the best he can do is hang on for he full 12 by getting on his bike. It will be a moral victory if he can, Daddy can then start spurting out that Junior is 'still just learning' and he took the champ the 'full distance' and 'he will come again'. In fact he can just change a few words form his post Saunders speech.

Eubank Jr would be the best opponent of GGGs career. And that kind of says a lot.

Lemiuex is a bigger puncher in terms of single shots however.

I think Eubank jnr will have moments of success in the fight particularly with the uppercut, in large because he has genuine belief that he can beat Golovkin (I don't believe it's a bluff). Eventually though Golovkin will systematically beat him down to around an 8th or 9th round stoppage I imagine. I have a feeling that Eubank will be fit enough and durable enough to withstand a fair amount of punishment but not quite as much as Murray could endure. I could see it ending earlier if Eubank snr throws in the towel.

I hope we don't have an eerie repeat of the Blackwell fight though with Eubank being the victim this time because his father and himself end up being too proud.

I would confidently pick Lemieux over Eubank

Hard to say with his latest level of opposition. I wish he had convincingly beaten Saunders in a rematch first. Then a fight vs Golovkin would have had much higher profile.

Style wise CEJ, I think, is a tougher matchup for GGG than Lemiuex. He's a better mover and athlete. Lemiuex was tailor made for GGG. Straight ahead.

It doesn't really matter if Lemieux would or wouldn't beat Eubank. I'm talking styles here.

I tend to agree. However, Junior's chin hasn't been tested by anybody like Lemieux or Golovkin, so the fight could end pretty quickly.

Well hopefully Eubank jr proves the majority wrong, destroys GGG and reigns as a middleweight goliath, that would be fantastic and until we know for certain I'm gonna pretend its a possibility, then again can you imagine what Chris snr/ English would be like if his son became a boxing superstar :witzend:
