Don't really give a toss either way, but would be funny if Smith smashed him up.

Can you imagine how badly Smith would have to bust him up to win a decision?

I'm hoping for a Smith win but can't see it.

Any idea on the reaction stateside? I'd have thought Canelo would get stick but don't know if people aren't bothered.

From what I've gleaned it's negative, which is what I expected given that Smith is pretty much a no-name in the US.

Hopefully Liam is earning life changing money for this, and fair play to him for going into the lions den as the Champ.

Cheers. You think Canelo still does 154 easy enough?

Based on what?

Is he going to stop the bigger, durable Canelo? Is he going to beat him up enough to win a decision in Texas against someone who continually benefits from poor scoring? Smith may well have his moments, but I can't see him getting a win.

Canelo ain't that difficult to hit and doesn't respond well to feints. If Liam feints and gets his foot placement right, he could bust Canelo up.

I don't give him much of a chance tbh but I'd love it if he managed the upset. His opposition has been poor and it's a bit of a jump from the guys he's been facing to going in against a top guy like Canelo. Maybe it'll bring the best out in him though and we'll see a different Liam Smith? Here's hoping.

Even if he loses and gives a decent account of himself it's a win/win situation. Well paid and raises his profile 100% overnight.

Wow! Feints! It must be that easy.

Canelo has limitations, but he wasn't busted up by Cotto, Lara, or Trout, and Smith is a fairly basic fighter who couldn't build a lead over John Thompson. I think Canelo will be the stronger man and I highly doubt that Smith comes close to busting him up.

I think Canelo will win, but Liam has a chance.

Can anyone remember how Liam Smith treated Jimmy Kelly Jnr, Kalma is a bitch.

I wonder if Saul will treat him in the same manner.

Liam does have a chance, a chance that isn't big enough for me to consider it realistic.

Still, he's landed a fight against arguably the sport's biggest active name, so good on him.

This will show what levels are all about Alverez by a punishing stoppage after a bright start by Smith.

I do wonder if Liam will be doing his smiling, bully routine during this fight.
