Shameful.

Is HBO or Showtime actually going to televise this, or is it gonna be a PPV?

It's definitely HBO. I bet it's PPV. Their budget probably has no room for Canelo dollars. That's going to take here, I'm guessing GBP is hoping they can get some Brit PPV cash in the pot.

If you mean Canelo, taking on the best guy available, no. Canelo has some re-building to do with his reputation. I am guessing only the retarded mexicans are the ones that still worship and have the utmost respect for Canelo.

Canelo is probably top 5 at 154 if he fought there, but hasn't fought there for about 2 years. As a middleweight, he is in the lower top 10, or 15. He can move up if he fights someone ranked high.

I'm pretty disappointing with this choice. I thought Canelo is gonna go for Thurman - Porter winner, Baradley or Broner. :verysad:

As a Brit,i cant wait for this fight but i'd imagine everyone else will be underwhelmed to say the least

Stylistically i think its a great match up,ive always felt Smith was like a British Canelo style-wise,both uber-strong,tough,aggressive and damn near immoveable, its just that Liam hasn't proved it yet,he hasnt fought at world level yet alone elite level

I dunno- I think Canelo is more of a thinking boxer than Smith, more of a counter puncher although his feet are slow as hell lol.

Smith is a more come forward, hit and be hit type.

I see what you're saying though- body types and strength wise they're very similar.

Yeah i wouldnt say their exact carbon copies, its maybe that steely determination both show when they get to work, never see either guy get flustered and ive said a few times before already, both guys have that look where they look impossible to KO or even hurt,terminator-like lol, although i will say its a bit early in Smith's career to be giving him that tag,Canelo too has been in with some world class fighters but they've all either been slippery non-punchers like Mayweather,Lara or Trout or blown up like Cotto,Khan or Mosley plus a few other lesser level fighters

Yeah. Canelo was actually rocked quite badly once by Cotto's brother whose first name i cant recall right now lol. It's the only time I've seen him really buzzed though.

From a Canelo viewpoint I can see people being disappointed. He's avoided GGG and hasn't picked one of the 154 big names.

From a British point of view I'm excited. Smith is underrated on the world stage.
He starts off slow figures a opponent out, then marches forward and has good bodyshots.

You've got to make Canelo favourite but how many times can he go to the well at 154.

This is potentially a Curry-Honeyghan sized upset.
