I don't dislike Fury at all, but I do find it odd that he's suddenly being lauded as a defensive genius just because he danced around for a bit against a man who barely threw a punch all night.

The Lampley quote in that article actually summed it up rather well for me:BitPlayer wrote:http://www.floboxing.tv/article/37755-b ... -klitschkoBoxerbeetle wrote:I don't dislike Fury at all, but I do find it odd that he's suddenly being lauded as a defensive genius just because he danced around for a bit against a man who barely threw a punch all night.
"If you look at . . . the unofficial scorecard from Harold Lederman--if you just joined us you may be thinking, ‘What a great performance from Fury.’ No. It’s a dreadful performance from Wladimir Klitschko.”

At the end of the day it's just an article by 'some guy' who has a viewpoint. Yes, Fury bobbed and weaved and was a moving target. But he DID present numerous chances for Wlad to land (hands on ropes, hands behind back, waving in the air) and Wlad didn't capitalise. Because he really was terrible
Although I admit that Fury ducking under Wlad's grab and clattering him with that left hook was an awesome move. Would have been funny if he pulled that off again afterwards, or knocked Wlad out with it.
Re: WHO WINS? Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua
I wasn't proclaiming it as some authority, he just did a good job of explaining it, and it was much easier.

does AJs performance against Breazeale tonight change anybodys thoughts on the outcome of a potential fight with Fury?

Joshua with ease
Re: WHO WINS? Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua
Got to say I think AJ takes this. His speed & movement would give the plodding Fury fits, plus chuck in Joshua's power & Tyson's suspect chin & I can't even see it being a tough night for him.
Re: WHO WINS? Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua
This was quite a funny thread to read through. So far I've identified two sets of contributors that have described both fighters at some point as 'plodders'. Sounds like a terrible fight!
Let's be honest here, when fully fit, neither fighter is a plodder. For his size, Fury demonstrates very nimble feet, good evasive action, and excellent bobbing head movement. He also has a 3 inch reach advantage, and can box with his jab at range or box very effectively on the inside.
However, Joshua is no mug. He probably possesses one of the hardest punches in the division, and he's very good at closing down his man. He's aggressive, and barely goes a round without catching his man at least once. He definitely showed some improvement in the Breazeale fight. I thought there was a big improvement on his head movement, and he learned to be a bit more patient (which he'd need vs. Fury). However he did look a little jaded, but I guess that was to be expected off the back of two consecutive camps.
Okay, closing down someone who doesn't move that much won't go down as the most impressive feat, but neither is defending against a man who doesn't throw a punch. I have no idea what happened with Klitchko (there's a few prevailing theories), but it seemed very out of character to not throw punches in anger, even when rounds were running out.
I just feel that Joshua wins this fight simply because I don't believe Fury can avoid Joshua for 12 rounds and don't believe he has the punching power to end it early.
Joshua to win by KO early second half of the fight.

Fury has much better than footwork. Fury largely beat Wlad with footwork and I don't think Joshua's is nearly as good as Wlad's.moogie101 wrote:Got to say I think AJ takes this. "the plodding Fury" - Fury is not plodding.
"Tyson's suspect chin" - Tyson has been smashed loads. Even when he's knocked down and hurt it doesn't seem to bother him. He just gets up and fights on. And wins.
AJ's got a puncher's chance against anyone, but right now Fury wins fairly comfortably.
in 3 years time IF AJ answers the questions and keeps improving... things might be very different.

I said Joshua wins it before, and still think he does.
That's if Fury ever steps in the ring again, which I don't think he does.

AJ
Tyson Fury has no interest in being a great fighter, AJ might be one before long, and is probably 4 months away from beating Wladimir much more conclusively than Fury did.
For the record I'd have been picking Joshua to win this fight even if you'd asked me a year ago. Fury never has impressed me.
