Shawn Porter was Rob!
Thurman landed the more clean & effective shots, but he didn't land enough punches to get the victory.Shawn Porter in my view landing more & threw more,I think there should be a instant rematch.
Re: Shawn Porter was Rob!
The right man won IMO
Re: Shawn Porter was Rob!
Please stop. This was in no way a robbery not close. Stop with this crap every time a guy loses. Pretty much everyone who judged this had KOTT nicking it.

Without throwing a punch, Brook became the best WW.
Re: Shawn Porter was Rob!
No he wasn't robbed. Porter just catches people's eye because he marauds forward constantly.

Clean and effective is the name of the game my brother.
Scoring was perfect. Rematch will be great.

Re: Shawn Porter was Rob!
No he didn't. He fought a more negative fight than Thurman did and also triangle theories don't work.boxing_rocks wrote:Without throwing a punch, Brook became the best WW.

Because he did marginally better against a common opponent? Eh, I'm not so sure.boxing_rocks wrote:Without throwing a punch, Brook became the best WW.
I think he's got a good argument, but it's not clear-cut for me.
Re: Shawn Porter was Rob!
Exactly. Casual rubes who are drunk and clueless how to score a fight recognize nothing but forward movement and aggression. It's why I no longer watch fights in bars. Surrounded by stupidity.lefty wrote:No he wasn't robbed. Porter just catches people's eye because he marauds forward constantly.

Lol. I hear ya.boxing_rocks wrote:Without throwing a punch, Brook became the best WW.
However, styles make fights. And Thurman poses a greater risk for Brook than did Porter. But I get your logic.

Yes, if "outworked" includes wrestling and low blows.psychod1986 wrote:Regardless if Thurman might of won the fight,He still got outworked by Shawn Porter.
Re: Shawn Porter was Rob!
I agreed with the official judges. When a fight is that close it's not a robbery no matter which way it goes.

Re: Shawn Porter was Rob!
I don't see it that way. He threw more punches. But he wasn't effective and didn't land the cleaner more effective shots.psychod1986 wrote:Regardless if Thurman might of won the fight,He still got outworked by Shawn Porter.
Floyd spent a lot of his time with his back on the ropes once he started fighting higher competition. That doesn't mean he got outworked. They both landed close to the same punches. Thurman's landed harder and had more effect. The rounds Porter won were just as you said, he outworked Thurman. But Thurman worked well off the ropes and landed well enough in the fight to score a rightful victory. There should be no controversy here.
Re: Shawn Porter was Rob!
Great fight...both landed shots with Thurman the more clear hard shots but I wouldn't have been surprised if it was a draw and would have been OK with that.

His name was Shawn Rob, but then he changed it to Porter in honor of his fatherSNG wrote:Who is Rob Porter? I've never heard of him!
Re: Shawn Porter was Rob!
To judge a fight isn't easy, I sometimes think if there is a course or something about how someone can be a boxing judge, because it is extremely important, they are the guys who will give the verdict of a person that trains for months to spend it in 36 minutes or less... In my country the judges are from the most various areas not concerning with boxing (like are dentists, medical doctors, lawers and so on), I think it must be a university specialization or an official entity to have a full course before launch judges over there, because there are such shit judging that are awful to hear the scorecards.
First time I became interested was after terrible judging: 1st Paul Williams vs Lara and then after Paquiao vs Bradley and Lara vs Canelo between others... I went to look for, how the judges scores (I think everyone who likes and follow boxing should read) and the most plausible (appears to be official) was this: (http://coolmaterial.com/feature/how-to- ... ing-match/) and this (http://boxing.isport.com/boxing-guides/ ... stem-works)
* Steve Weisfeld also talked about it. (http://www.premierboxingchampions.com/n ... core-fight).
Neurophysiologically speaking in every minute we see or observe something we digress 8 seconds, for a boxing judge this shouldn't but can be maximized and become more disturbing (even with their concentrated attention) because are circled with noises of any types among others distractions like people, ring girls, and etc, these are human beings and are subject to fail. Above this that are some mistakes that they do too (http://www.boxinginsider.com/columns/th ... dges-make/).
In my opinion, there are other variables (above the ones I said before) to consider too, but if you consider these men "Four Components of Scoring" of judges you will see that Thurman didn't was so good at "Effective Aggression" and "Ring Generalship" a little better at "Defense" (in general) and quite better at "Hard and Clean Punches" in comparison to Porter (statistics of showtime channel punchstats also showed this) could be the winning fact? well only they to know, well conected punches doesnt mean 100% victory, I think at least 40%.
In general fight and in my humble scorecard was 116-112 Porter and nothing more than that, a minimum ought to be draw.
Best regards'

Re: Shawn Porter was Rob!
I had it scored exactly the same as the 3 judges, I actually thought this has been the best scoring in a fight I've seen in a very long time
Re: Shawn Porter was Rob!
So was he Shawn Rob then changed his name or was Shawn actually Rob? Let me be frank......this all a bit confusing.boxing_rocks wrote:His name was Shawn Rob, but then he changed it to Porter in honor of his fatherSNG wrote:Who is Rob Porter? I've never heard of him!

Re: Shawn Porter was Rob!
I thought 7-5 or 8-4 Thurman ... or even 1 draw card would be okay.
Porter ate way too many clean big shots coming in.

No robbery I thought Porter nicked it but it was too close to call it a robbery(or even a Rob).

I had it 7-5 Thurman. Would like to see Thurman vs. Brook or Danny Garcia. Don't think Porter lost any respect. Put up a good fight. Porter definitely pushed Thurman to the limit. Props to Thurman. Props to Porter. Good fight..
