Smith Groves Next?

Post by Taansend »

What's next? Are we going to see a Smith Groves battle or will Eddie steer each of them into a separate WBA title shot against people we've never heard of so they can partially unify the WBA SuperMiddleweight title on PPV?

I've thrown in a poll in case anyone gives a toss.

p.s. I'm talking about Callum, not his brother or that bloke Joe who knocked out Fonfara last week.

Would love to see this, genuinely couldn't call it after Groves' performance last night

They should go after the WBA titles first.

George isn't with Eddie. George knows his own worth, inflates it even, so won't come cheap.

Murray would be a good measuring stick for Smith before he steps up a level...

I'd bet my house on Smith KO. Groves chin is showing signs of wear and tear.

Chief support: Murray vs Smigga (the OTHER Smith)

Prime for prime, Groves, but Smith's got the 12-round legs at this point and I'd favour him slightly. He'd have to get through some heavy flak to win, but he has the speed, fitness, height and variety to steal rounds. I can only imagine Smith taking the later rounds unless he's hurt, but Groves would be his most dangerous opponent early.

Good friends though aren`t they ?
I remember Smith saying recently that he wouldn`t fight Murray because of this

I would like either Smith or Groves to fight Badou Jack and then fight each other.

That's assuming they win Stu. Jack is like Steve Robinson in that people keep thinking he's an easy route to the belt & then he keeps winning.

True, but I do think people have forgotton how close the Groves' fight and that was with a KD. I think the KD not only made the critical difference in the scoring, but also affected Groves' performance.

Groves' seems to be better now and I think on home soil both would beat Jack.

Fancy Smith to catch him at some point and put him away.

Me too, but I also thought he'd lose to the "Dirrell with balls" & Groves first time around.

They'd both be favourites over him but if one is fighting him does the other keep busy? And against whom?

Smith by late stoppage. There is a chance of Groves sticking and moving to outbox Callum. But I'd rather bet on a young lion then a balding has been who got cobraed in front of 80 000.

I'd fancy Smith to catch up with him late on as Groves fades and stop him.
I'd pick Groves in a Jack rematch though.
Also Groves still gets under DeGales skin enough to make that a 50/50
