His record is in the database here. He fought Brian London and Tom Mcneely. It looks like his biggest win was knocking out Don Cockell. He had about 80 fights or so, a good record also.

I remember him fighting in England late 50s early 60s. Never actually saw him fight but from reading the newspaper reports seemed like a strong aggressive fighter - maybe more fighter than boxer.

Generally lost the "big ones" but could hold his own near the top level at British and Empire/Commonwealth level

Just thinking about it overnight.... I guess you have probably done a Google search (?)...I came on this bit from an article dated Jan 05. It's about some aspects of a "Nationality Act" and reads...

"Kitione Lave - Famous Tongan Boxer and naturalised British Subject, was expelled and deported from Tonga in the 1970's. His family were from Vava'u and some of them still live there today"

Some other thoughts.... you could write to the main UK boxing weekly, "Boxing News" (Editor is Claude Abrams, e-mail is [email protected]). You could maybe do it as a "letter to the editor", try to get it published in their letters pages and see if anyone can help you further? They also do an "Old Timers" section written by Ron Olver and he might have some information.

The other idea would be to maybe contact New Zealand Ex-Boxers groups...there must be one, but I have no idea where! Again Ron Olver may know...?

Hope you find him!
