UK has another world champ - WBC light heavy title!

Post by reggaereggae »

Ok so I'm a bit uncomfortable posting this as I really like said boxer and I think it's good for the bbbofc not to to have a monopoly. BUT....

Last night George Hillyard won the WBC light heavy title at York Hall against a certain Manzo Smith...

What, Who, Why? You may ask..."I thought Adonis Stevenson was the WBC champ?" When did he get stripped?

Well, are there two WBC champions? Are they going the way of the WBA with endless 'world champs'? Well sort of. I mean not really.... Erm it's hard to to describe.

Well yesterday Hillyard won the WBC title. But it's not the World Boxing Council title. It's the World Boxing Confederation title. A new 'governing' body based in Switzerland. Formed earlier this year. Here is the 1 page website:
http://www.wbc-boxing.ch

And FB: https://m.facebook.com/WorldBoxingConfederation/

Funnily enough it has genuinely great ratings, probably the best of any governing body.... But it allowed Hillyard-Manzo Smith compete for the light heavy 'world' title.

Funnily enough at least the new WBC is more honest than other bodies.... It shows you how much you have to pay to buy their title at least!

And here is one of Manzo Smith's most recent 'fights' (less than a year ago) on the unlicensed scene.

Anyway. Enjoy yet another British world champ

New one on me, thanks for that :TU:

Had a look at the fight poster on the Facebook page, pretty sure I've seen a number of the fighters on EBF shows in the past?

Robin Deakin had a less successful outing on the undercard, according to his Twitter he was disqualified for telling his opponent to 'F**k Off'

Does this new organisation operate under the Malta banner, they seem to be involved with every fringe group?

Seems to have been started by paper title connoisseur, former professional Gene Pukall.

Imagine being employed as a salesman for this outfit.

Surely they are about to be shut down on IP infringement anyway.

Bit much to go with 'WBC' as the title. Are the belts green as well?

In other news, I am looking to start a football federation from Latvia called the The Fédération Internationale de Futbols Association (FIFA) World Cup. Every four years in odd years there shall be a World Cup Football Tournament. Here are my world rankings:

1 Argentina
2 Spain
3 Germany
4 Colombia
5 Chile
6 Belgium
7 Brazil
8 Portugal
9 Uruguay
10 Austria
15 Latvia
Any questions?

It was an unlicensed/BIBA-Z show. Just like the one in Leeds where the female mini Tyson got beat.
