I'll believe it when I see it but fair play to him if he takes the fight. It shows balls. I actually think he'd cause GGG a few problems and maybe even last the distance but even that's a big ask. I can't see him stopping GGG and he hasn't got the experience to out point him but if he can fight the guy that nobody wants to fight and cause him a few problems then it's a no lose situation.

Then again there's always the chance that he takes a severe beating and is never the same afterwards. It's an interesting match up.

I'd crawl over broken glass to see Golovkin fight.

Really hope this fight comes off. I genuinely believe the Eubanks want it.

I think all those giving Junior a chance are forgetting a few key aspects:

1) A lot of GGG's opponents have a plan... until they get hit. The idea that Eubank is going to be able to sit in range firing off his uppercuts at will is fanciful at best. He'll never have experienced power like GGG's based on his career to date and it's bound to impact his approach.

2) As his fight with Lemieux proved (and as evidenced by his amateur success), GGG is anything but a one-dimensional banger. He's also a master boxer in terms of footwork, timing etc. Again, even if you park the issue of his power, there's still the fact that he'll be the best boxer Jr has ever faced by some margin.

3) Relating to both the above, it's about levels. I remember Spike O'Sullivan looking like the second coming of RJJ against Anthony Fitzgerald - hands down, winging in lead uppercuts etc - but of course he couldn't do any of that against Eubank. The same applies with Jr - the idea that he'll be able to fight in exactly the same manner against GGG as he does against the Dorans of this world clearly doesn't stand up to scrutiny.

I dunno. I think Saunders is and would be the best 'boxer' Eubank jnr has fought if the Golovkin fight comes off. I'm talking purely in terms of hitting and not being hit. Golovkin is still quite hittable even when he reverts back to 'boxer'.

Now as an all round operator, Golovkin is the superior fighter and would end up stopping BJS.

Lefty, please tell me you're joking? Look at GGG's amateur record compared to Saunders and then go rewatch the Lemieux fight where GGG chose to box as he was facing a more dangerous opponent. He controlled every second of that fight with his jab and footwork in a way that Saunders never could or would.

Saunders has a 'flashier' style. Doesn't make him technically a better boxer.

Hope it does come off Eubank is way better than Murray and he did quite well against GGG, I'm not saying Eubank will win but he has a hell of a chance I think and them uppercuts are made for GGG. The fight isn't as silly as some are making JR has come on leaps and bounds since BJS, this fight will be a great battle.

I'm not joking. A tremendous anateur record doesn't necessarily mean anything. Go and watch Cotto vs Muhammad Abdullaev. He was a tremendous amateur boxer- Olympic gold medallist, world amateur championships gold medallist and a 3 time asian games gold medallist and one time silver medsllist and something like 300 amateur victories. Tremendous amateur career better than Golovkin in fact - however he still wasn't a particularly 'slick' boxer! He beat Cotto in the amateurs and got the crap beaten out of him in the return in the pro's.

Rakhim Chakhiev is another example of a tremendous amateur career and boxer but another guy that isn't 'slick'.

Golovkin did look good boxing against Lemieux but the latter fought the wrong fight. He tried to stand off and box at range which isn't his game. Golovkin out boxing someone who isn't a particularly good 'boxer' isn't that impressive to me.

Murray did quite well? I guess that depends on how loose your standards are, because despite Murray going almost 11 rounds I only had him winning one of them, and he got dropped thrice prior to being stopped; it was just a case of him offering more resistance during his beatdown than most GGG opponents.

Would Chudinov, Spike, or Blackwell have defeated the Jr. who fought Saunders? I'm not denying that he's gotten better, but there's a huge gulf between the guys he's apparently shown improvement against and a P4P level fighter (and still a pretty good gap between those guys and Saunders). He's definitely got some good raw attributes, such as physical strength, speed, and what appears to be respectable durability, so I can see him having some success, but ultimately I think his technical shortcoming will be too pronounced and he'll find himself outgunned for punching power.

good post, eubank has virtually no chance at all.

Can anyone recall Jr being hurt in any fight? If he is as tough as his dad he is in for a long, painful night.

To cut to the chase, GGG is no Abdullaev and Saunders is most definitely no Cotto. A 345-5 record that includes a world championship and an Olympic silver medal is a damn good form line regarding his capabilities as a boxer and since he's turned pro he's only reinforced that impression. Lemieux fought the 'wrong fight' precisely because GGG was dictating where the fight went, which goes back to the first point I made about opponents having a plan but it swiftly being abandoned because of that lethal combination of power and boxing ability. To claim Saunders is a better boxer is laughable IMO - as others have stated, you're confusing flashiness with effective boxing.

Both things that Abdullaev had. Well actually both of his medals were gold. Regarding Lemieux, he adopted that strategy from the opening bell, it's not like he tried fighting his usual very aggressive style/ come forward style where he's throwing heavy leather from the opening bell but was getting thoroughly out boxed by Golovkin and resorted to trying to box at range. He was intimidated before the fight even started because of Golovkins power which in turn made him extremely hesitant to engage.

You cant tell me that in the art of hitting and not being hit that Golovkin gets tagged less that Saunders? Cmon. I remember the spike O'sullivan fight, he barely landed a glove on Saunders throughout 12 rounds. Now I'm willing to bet if Golovkin and O'Sullivan fought, the fight would be a lot shorter obviously and Spike would get badly busted up but I bet he would still land some significant punches before subsequently falling.

Golovkin gets tagged a lot. Against Munroe who's no great shakes he was getting hit a lot and that's happened in other fights aswell. I even remember the Stevens fight where he boxed a lot more intelligently, he was still getting tagged with some big counter left hooks and other shots. His great chin plays a big part.

He did better than any other challenger, so yeah compared to the others he did quite well. Styles make fights and I think JR has a good style to do well against GGG.

i think most of us have been following boxing long enough to know theres no certainties and the best fighters in the game can and do lose, i can understand GGG being heavily favoured but junior aint done a whole lot wrong in his career to write him off completely, people talk about the jump up in class for junior but so what ? maybe he can bridge the gap maybe he cant but no one knows for sure, instead of everybody turning into experts on a fight that hasnt happened yet maybe we should be thankful that we got a fantastic middleweight champ and an exciting and confident young contender willing to get it on

I haven't been to a live boxing event in a few years. I find it is very difficult to get a decent view and so have subscriptions to everything, so I can watch on TV. If this fight gets made, I think I will go.

Lemieux couldn't even stop a shot Alcine or the chinny but Gutsy N'Jikam. He didn't stop upshaw either who himself was stopped by Dominic Wade and even Denis Douglin.
