It makes you wonder where time goes.

Although I am younger than Iron Mike, I can remember his whole career & it is staggering to think that he is 50 years old now.

I was 12 and on the verge of falling in life-long love with the sport when Tyson emerged in 1985/86 and he pulled me all the way in and I have been stuck ever since. I am sad he is 50 as it is a reminder of my own increasing age to think he won the title 30 years ago.

I think there was a time around mid to late 80s when The name Tyson was the most well known in the world. Even to non boxing fans

Absolutely.

Every body knew who Mike Tyson was & even today, I hear folk who know nothing about boxing saying things like, "I feel like I've been 10 rounds with Mike Tyson!"

That must have been something!

I used to come in from nights out & stay up watch him at about 4am on Granada TV (Now ITV), free to air & watch him destroy some hapless opponent in about 91 seconds after looking forward to the fight for months! :witzend: :D

Then again, I actually fell asleep when he fought Boneclutcher Smith, so boring was that contest: Smith was pathetic, except for the very last seconds of the fight.
