Who would win between Ortiz and Joshua?

Post by Chepppaaa »

you all know who my favourite would be, who is your.

I mean its a close match. both have the power to KO or hurt each other, no doubt. but ortiz seems technicly more well rounded, seems to have better foot-speed and coordination, just is the more sound boxer, better ring iq, equal power to josh, just with a better more versatile punch variation. to me, the best heavyweight since lewis. would he get the chance to boost he record, he would beat wlad, wilder and everybody else. but who wants a non trash talker, with 0 englsih language skills, i know :D

I'll go for Ortiz but largely to the fact I prefer his style. It's somewhat of a pick'em fight I think. Ortiz hasn't really been tested around the whiskers up to now either.

Ortiz stoppage between 7-10, AJ won't know what to do when he's in there with someone who can take him rounds & make it competitive at this stage in his career, AJ needs a guy that ain't gonna lay down and come forward all night. Stiverne or Duhaupas..

ortiz had surely over 100 amateur fights, boxed jennings, who not so long was regarded as someone who would beat wlad and certainly good in the fight with wlad and wlad couldnt do to him, what ortiz did inside 7. also tony tompson isnt that bad. most avoid ortiz, like fat kids avoid vegetables.

Ortiz was allegedly knocked out as an amateur though I read. Jennings whilst still a very good fighter- he's a small heavyweight and doesnt have a great deal of power.

you could say something bad about every boxer ever. hopkins lost early, prime jones got knocked down by de valle etc..

fact is. ortiz is tko/ko everybody in his path and looks very impressiv.

i dont know for you, but 6'3 and this, doesnt look small to me.

I think Joshua, Joshua is better in everything except reach and skills. Most stats are close I admit, but I would put my money on Joshua.

I wouldn't call Jennings a small heavyweight, but he's certainly not a big puncher.

Ortiz had 362 amateur fights with 343 wins... He has great skills but they could rust out... Bryant Jennings easily went the distance with Wladimir Klitschko, but Bryant switched to one of the best trainers in the game because he lacked skills. BJ has no stance, no jab, no footwork, no range, and lacked good technical defensive skills.. John David Jackson matched Jennings with Ortiz which shocked me.. that blew me away.. They have some pretty fair trainers who work with the Cuban team and Ortiz is a pretty masterful dude... Ortiz hurt Jennings within 1-minute of the 1st round. I got the distinct impression Ortiz let Jennings recover a 2 or 3 times during that fight. No sense crushing Jennings early and scaring off every potential opponent on the planet. Jennings was so far behind on the cards that he started to take big risks. Ortiz had to get rid of him.

For his next fight after Jennings you would think Ortiz should have gotten a step UP... You would think somebody would be talking about Ortiz getting a Title Fight with Fury or Wilder.. Ortiz dominated a recent number 1 contender and Lineal Title Challenger.. But Ortiz was persona non grata... He's the skunk who came to the party.. It took him 4 months to get his next fight against a "beating the canebrakes" type opponent.. He could have fought the next day after the Thompson fight, as much punishment as he took.. but next Ortiz had 6 months to prepare for the formidable Ustinov.. You look at what's happening to Ortiz and realize Professional Boxing is a business and not a sport... At least not a merit based sport... Although I believe Ortiz would beat Joshua if he fought him in the next 3 or 4 months -- I think Joshua will get past LO if the fight happens 2 years from now.

But let's think about this... Joshua is 17-0 with only 43 amateur fights... Ortiz is 25-0 with 362 amateur fights... Tyson Fury is 25-0... Deontay Wilder is 36-0... Who should actually be matched with Ortiz??? ... For me, Wilder and Fury should be forced to step up and face the Cuban -- followed by Joshua when he acquires at least 20 or more fights.

i think if ortiz keeps winning and winning and climbing the ranks, that sooner or later wilder or joshua just have to face him, cause he would be to high in all ranks. with a win over ustinov and maybe 1 or 2 opponent ortiz will be in the top 5, maybe top 3, with potential fury and wlad retiring

WTF are you taking about??? Ortiz isn't "Top-5"... He's TOP-1... Or maybe he shares the top spot with Joshua..

Beating clowns like Thompson and Ustinov does ZERO for him... Beating Jennings a 100 X easier than Klitschko beat him is what caught everybody's eye... You need to fight those top rated guys to blow everybody away with your performance.. But I already knew he was the best boxer in the division.

Right now guys are DUCKING Ortiz because he's aging... He's not getting better and they ARE.. That's why I call Boxing a business -- not a sport.

Ortiz takes Joshua deep and gives him the bizness right now, in a good scrap.

The only person that has been ducking Ortiz that I know of is Ustinov. Ortiz made the mistake of getting into the WBA tournament, which is supposed to give him a shot at the winner of Wlad/Fury. Golden Boy needs to focus on getting him the best fights before his window begins to close.

Did someone actually say that Ortiz was one of the top five heavyweights of all time?

I found it. " Ortiz is probably one of the 3 or 4 best Heavyweight boxers of all time." Surprise, surprise. It was Kalan. :OhYes:
