None of them
None of them
I don't feel any of the current crop at Welterweight (despite the talent in the division) beat either Floyd or Manny in their primes. I still don't believe any of them beat Floyd.

doesn't speak so much against them.NateJR wrote:I don't feel any of the current crop at Welterweight (despite the talent in the division) beat either Floyd or Manny in their primes. I still don't believe any of them beat Floyd.
ATGs don't appear every day, that's
why they are ... ATGs.

Re: None of them
Manny and Floyd wouldn't beat Hearns or Leonard.
Re: None of them
On the topics of du jour: French fries are not only tasty but good for you if you buy the organic natural kind, not eat the fast food ones.
Leonard and Hearns would have their hands full with Pac and May, but I'd also favor them to win. On 2nd thought, due to styles, Hearns would probably do to Pac what he did to Duran.

Re: None of them
I think the best chance of the four is Floyd vs Leonard. Agreed Tommy would starch Pac and while Floyd's toughness is underrated I find it difficult envisioning him walking through everything Leonard did to win.
Re: None of them
How about this..
If both Leonard and Mayweather fought at the same time at 147. In their respective primes. Both had the money and media presence. Each respective fighter pretty much controlled the intangibles like glove size, ring size, larger share of purse, where to fight, etc..
Which fighter would win the Negotiations battle. Think they would have spilt 50/50.

Leonard would have, he was beyond beloved. Floyd did a great job marketing himself, but the sport was starved for a star. Leonard had 10 million dollar purses when stars were fighting on networks for 75k.MachoTime wrote:How about this..

Re: None of them
Probably So. Leonard's big advantage was the media presence from the beginning. Starting with the 76's Olympics. Mayweather really didn't get the media circus until after the De La Hoya fight. Both Leonard and Mayweather were equally adapt at handling the media. Not being a distraction. I believe that was a big part in both fighters success. It would have been interesting since there would be quite a bit of ego's involved besides Leonard and Mayweather...negotiations...SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Leonard would have, he was beyond beloved. Re: None of them
Though it also depends on the era. If it was now, all of Leonard's secrets wouldn't be hidden. Like that 7 up commercial with his son that he barely spent time with. Stuff like that is a big deal now, the cocaine and hitting his wife wouldn't play well either. Though his teenage gay love would make him a hero.MachoTime wrote:Probably So.
