Denis Shafikov vs Jamel Herring
Not much boxing on this weekend but this ones on ESPN on saturday night/sunday morning
Shafikov having his 1st fight since the world title defeat to Barthelemy,im sure there were people who felt he won that fight but i had Rances winning by a point,i havent seen much of Herring but he's unbeaten in 15 and im sure they will hope this is his coming out party but Denis is a tough fight for anyone at LW and i reckon this might be too much too soon for Herring

Just watched Herring had no power to keep him off.
I'd wouldn't mind seeing Shafikov with any of the top guys at lightweight

Herring...had nothing, how did that guy make the Olympics?
Re: Denis Shafikov vs Jamel Herring
I like Shafikov. He's a proper, old-school, go anywhere, fight anyone kind of fighter, who has never had any favours. Good win for him.

Re: Denis Shafikov vs Jamel Herring
Good performance from Shafikov,i gave him everything,Herring was never in it and never looked liked he believed in himself, his jab was feeble and you need to a strong jab if your gonna have a chance of keeping a bull like Shafikov off you,Jamel's left hands too were also timid,Denis just walked through him
Maybe Herring's corner could've retired him after the 9th but i thought it was a good call to throw the towel in after only 1 punch, some corners ego would allow their man to take more punishment to try justify letting their guy out for another round

Whats the chances of the IBF doing their usual mandatory merry go round by making Shafikov face the winner of Commey/Easter Jr?

Re: Denis Shafikov vs Jamel Herring
Shafikov only gets beaten by the best of the division in my opinion now.
Despite a great story unfortunately Herring isn't that good.
I expect both Crolla and Flanagan to steer clear of Denis. Offers nothing in the risk/reward category.
