Apparently the Australian fella Chopper stayed up late once to watch a fight.

Halling was on commentary and he ended up cutting his own ears off. TRUE STORY.

I'm with him, not a fan of Halling, incredibly biased. Also, don't care for Adam Smith, 'He'sss soooo excitable" some of the guys on Sky Sports come accross as fan boys. I mean Halling referring to Sean Dodd as Masher Dodd reeks of biased, he's not your mate, commentate impartially on the fight. Not a fan of Bunce and Lillis either.

Always liked Jim Rosenthal back in the day along with Reg Gutteridge and Sky when they had Paul Dempsey. For me the best of the best was Ian Darke, a terrific commentator.

Generally I don't mind Watt, but Halling is a shameless, emotionally invested shill and probably my least favorite commentator in boxing.

:salut:

I don't mind Watt at all. He's quite insightful and calls it right the vast majority of the time. Darke was great as well.

Adam Smith (for all his experience) is too green and really doesn't understand boxing that well and Bunce is a helium sounding loony.

jim is the best thing about Skys lousy boxing coverage.

He is an icon.

He spawned numerous catchphrases.

Halling and watt are a excellent team but I first suggested it on these pages a decade ago , they need to have a 3 man commentary regularly. A danny Williams or audley harrisson would be great as the " colour commentator"

Danny Williams? Where on earth did you pluck that name from? He's not exactly Mr Articulate.

He did some commentary with steve holdsworth on eurosport a while ago Jimmy. Also he used to be a pundit on the BBC in the audley Harrison days.

I found him pretty articulate

Oh right, news to me, never heard him, I was just recalling him being terrible whenever he was interviewed post fight, but then that's not necessarily a reflection of how he'd be as a pundit of course.

He doesnt commentate on what is happening, hes usualy spouting on about what he thinks such and such should do. Plus he thinks if a fighter gets a shot at being on tv every round should be blood, guts thunder fight to the death kinda stuff. If he would be quiet and wait until something happens then commentate would be better, though most commentators think these days that someone needs to be talking at all times. Rant over
