I don't know what he was like outside of the ring but I was referring to him as a fighter. Very fun to watch.

I like Bugner, or as the Brits pronounce it Bucknar. No he wasn't the best in his division, but Calzaghe probably was. I guess I just wrote the disclaimer so I didn't get lectured that there are better F than Little Red.

I put Danny Williams as my fave heavy. Safe to say he's in no ones P4P list.

One of my favorites, as I said before, was the great Mexican Zurdo de Oro, Vicente Saldivar. I just can't get enough of him watching his bouts on film. :TU:

Really enjoyed looking at these lists, and liking the fact it's just who you like, not who was the best. Here's mine.

Heavyweight - Mike Tyson (Honourable mention for Larry Holmes)
Cruiserweight - Evander Holyfield
Light Heavyweight - Matthew Saad Muhammed
Super Middleweight - Nigel Benn
Middleweight - Marvin Hagler
Super Welterweight - Mike McCallum
Welterweight - Sugar Ray Leonard (Honourable mentions for Tommy Hearns & Don Curry)
Super Lightweight - Aaron Pryor (Honourable mention for JC Chavez)
Lightweight - Roberto Duran (Honourable mentions for Ray Mancini)
Super Featherweight - Bobby Chacon (My favourite division, Lopez, Lockridge, Boza Edwards, Mitchell etc)
Featherweight - Azumah Nelson (Another great division, Alexis Arguello, Salvador Sanchez, Barry McGuigan)
Super Bantamweight - Marco Antonio Barrera (Yet another great division, Erik Morales, Wifredo Gomez, Israel Vazguez)
Bantamweight - Jeff Fenech (Just, over Orlando Canizales)
Super Flyweight - Robert Quiroga
Flyweight - Duke McKenzie
Light Flyweight - Michael Carbajal
Minimumweight - Ricardo Lopez

Purely my favourites

I'm shocked how many people love Leonard & hearns. I can only assume that's mostly people that weren't around for the rivalry. Respect everywhere, but I didn't know anyone that cheered for all 4 of the kings.

Those 4 Duran, Hagler, Hearns and Leonard were extraordinary boxers. They still got the fan appeal and admiration even though their primes were more than 30 years ago.

I'll probably won't see a four-way rivalry of that class anytime soon. I expect nobody either.

Some people like to say that they like someone when they really don't. Then they act they are being objective when they rip them constantly.
Other people really do like guys who were rivals; however I never knew anyone either that liked all four of them.
The people that I personally know who followed boxing back then (I don't know anyone personally who does now) were mostly Leonard fans. Some liked Hagler and/or Hearns as well. I have never known anyone personally who liked Duran.

Leonard was definitely the most popular, all my friends followed Boxing then. Hearns and Duran were my two favorite fighters, hated Leonard and cheered against Hagler. Marvin had a lot of fans in my high school. None of them watch Boxing anymore.

It could be because Duran wasn't American?

.

HW – Jack Dempsey (that’s why I named my daughter after him; no not ‘Jack’ – her name is ‘Dempsey’)

CW – (I don’t know any)

LH – Matthew Saad Muhammad (once got to sit in [actually next to] his corner; always a good fight; please see my post “Going to the Fights: As good as it gets" - http://boxrec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=202867)

MW – Nino Benvenuti (when I was only 14, his come from behind victory over Luis Manuel Rodriguez made me a life-long fight fan)

WW – Tommy “Hit Man” Hearns (was always what I believe a fighter should be, a fighter!)

LW – Livingstone Bramble (always fun to watch and listen to; I once heard a sports’ writer say: “Whoever he fights has a home planet advantage.” – actually it turns out he is a bright, sensitive, and kind man.)

FW – Danny ‘Little Red’ Lopez (fought every round like it was his last; was already going for the knockout during introductions)

BW – Jimmy Navarro (local kid [Hialeah, FL] got his title shot against Orlando Canizales and got mugged – lasting only 2:39, oops!)

FW – Probably some kid from Thailand whose name is 37 letters long, which I can neither say nor spell (actually I don’t know any)

Duran was very popular here. Msg sang happy birthday to him while he bludgeoned new York's own Davey Moore. A bunch of my friends loved Duran.
