Lacy question

Max: How can Lacy be ready for Joe after getting rocked like this from Sheika?

The board: Sheika hits HARDER than Calzaghe. That was a single shot and Lacy recovered quite quickly. Calzaghe was DROPPED by Salem and Lacy hits harder than him.

Max: Yeah but Calzaghe beat Salem and beat Sheika better than Lacy.

As you can see, he starts off questioning Lacy's chin.

When it gets pointed out that Lacy did well to take that shot and stay upright and recover quite quickly, he changed the subject from his original post (Lacy's chin) and attempts to turn it into an argument about who beat Sheika more comfortably.

At this point he should have atmitted he was wrong and this thread is nothing more than biased unfounded garbage.

He also ignored the Salem knockdown for Slappery because Slappery beat Salem. (He doesn't actually address the POINT made by several posters about the actual knockdown though, he just says, "Well Slappery beat Slaem wide on scorecards etc".

Sheika hits hard and caught Jeff with a full blooded shot which stunned him, then he recovered.

I think i'd take Omar to beat Ashira, Veit, Salem and Mkcherwhatshisname

you can't compair how Lacy has looked in the last couple of years to how Joe has looked and I can't see Calzaghe being as up for this as Lacy is

I think JC will be as up for this as any fight in his life. He still doesn't get the respect he craves, and has to be one of the most criticised champions in recent memory.
He'll be desparate to put that right next week - I'm sure there's no way his pride will let him lose this without putting up a real battle.

But like Terence says earlier, I think his legs looked a little shakey in the Veit rematch. Hard to tell, I know others thought he looked as good as ever in that fight.

Livra, I was saying if Sheika could do that the Joe can stop him!

I didn't ignore the Salem knockdown, it wasn't one of his best but he won easy unlike Lacy who made it close one with Sheika.

Calzaghe's chin is more proven than Lacy's.

You posted this thread to discredit Lacy, "how is he ready for Slapepry when THIS happened??"

People pointed out that Lacy actually deserves respect for taking that shot from a puncher and recovering.

From that point on, this thread became a joke.

Then you use the "Calzaghe beat them better" argument and ignore the fact that the original point is wrong.

Then you hilariously suggested that Calzaghes knockdown of Eubank proves he hits harder than Sheika (Sheika couldn't do that but Calzaghe could!!) when the actual knockdown didn't come from a POWER punch, but it came from a combination of a timed punch and Eubanks balance. Nothing to do with power because Eubank wasn't HURT.

So again you have no point!

How does that knockdown prove Slappery has more power than Shieka as it was due to Eubank being off balance more so than the actual punch?

Funny nuthugging mate

Wrong!

I said Would Sheika be able to knock Eubank down too then if he hits harder.

Yeah and Eubank lost his balance from his punches so it was an actual knockdown and if you think he has no power than you don't really have a point.

Hurt or not he was down and he obviously felt how hard he hit.

Slapps or not ask the 31 people he's stopped and tough fuckers who went the distance how hard he hits.

Please do not mention nuthugging if thats the only excuse you have for that and it demeans your arguement.

To be honest I ain't sure if Lacy is ready for Joe since his opp hasn't proved it, it just proves he has a punch. Joe is the better skilled.

It wasn't just that bit that he was troubled by either Sheika was finding it quite easy to hit Lacy throughout the fight.

So I ain't sure if Lacy is ready for this.

So the original point is not wrong yet until proven on March 4th.

Yes Calzaghe easily beat Sheika cutting him up 5 if I was sure Lacy was ready then I would of expected Lacy to win easily too.

Least Calzaghe didn't need the ref to beat Reid either yet Reid had the ref and Lacy to deal with!

Max this thread is really really stupid (and this is coming from someone picking Calazage to win).

First if a fighter goes down off balance it means nothing - a girl could put him down if hes off balance.

Second - Calazage just doesn't hit that hard. He doesnt starch opponents he overwhelms them with numbers of punches.

Third - taking a full blooded shot will stun most fighters. Magee came close to ko'ing Hatton - Tsyzu definately will ko Hatton then (a prediction I made). It doesnt work like that in the real world.

If your going to make a case for Calazage - make the case that hes faster, hes a better boxer and that Lacy is overated and he doesnt hit as hard as many think. Questioning Lacys chin and saying Calazage hits harder than Sheika makes you look stupid especially when you have problems with spelling.

Well said. Max why is it you seem to have a problem ever taking a backward step in any kind of debate? Look at the other thread, despite mountains of evidence from people who actually know what they are talking about, as they work in the area for a living, you refuse point blank to accept that it is not only possible, but quite feasible and within reasonable limits. You're like king Cnute with his toes in the water mate.

Now you post a clip of Lacy getting only very momentarily stunned by Sheika, as proof that he cannot take a shot and Calzaghe will destroy him.

If anything, that clip proves to me that Lacy has an excellent chin, because he takes a full blooded shot that he doesn't see coming and doesn't come close to going down.

On any given night, even a fighter with shit all punch power can stun another fighters if they catch them right, I haven't seen much evidence to date that there's anything wrong with Lacy's chin. He is a bit open, and he can be hit, but chinny he isn't.

If Calzaghe goes win, it won't I am fairly confident be a sudden one punch KO, because Calzaghe just isn't that concussive with one shot. He may get lacy and drill him into submission however with a rapid fire series of shots.

I don't have spelling problems James you'd mix them up to typing fast all the time.

I've already said that Calzaghe is faster and that Lacy is getting hyped off guys Joe already beat when they were in their primes.

31ko's out of 40 wins says he can punch just as hard as Lacy as I don't deny Lacy can;t punch since he dropped Reid.

Yeah Eubank lost his balance but that was because Joe making him lose his balance and he was down regardless.

Yes taking a full clean shot can but I wasn't on about Tszyu Ko'ing Hatton although he didn take a ton of clean shots off him without being stunned. I was on about the fact that some mention youth and they wern't that way with Tszyu being 35.

As for Sheika hitting harder, who other than Lacy has he shook whos worth a mention is what I asked as well?

James the point of posting that clip was to show that Lacy can't just recklessly walk thought punches like some people think and have said. Yeah he must have a decent chin but some were saying he could walk through them which would be stupid with someone like Joe.

I don't like to stand back James If I feel I shouldn't have to unless I think I should.

If Lacy wins I will give credit were it's due.

As for trading as well he didn't do it so well with Sheika and some think Joe can't trade with someone like Lacy, yet when Mitchell tried it he got put out.

Max, please get a couple of points straight.

1) Calzaghe isn't a power puncher; never has been and never will be

2) But then, power is an overrated quality. Much more important are handspeed and precision, and Calzaghe is pretty good on both counts - notably speed. Which explains his many knockout wins (together with poor competition).

In other words: you try to defend Calzaghe against a criticism that doesn't really hold water. By doing so you look like both a nut-hugger and a boxing incompetent. Don't do that to yourself.

Btw, the clip makes me worried about Lacy's defense, not his chin. Imagine Calzaghe there, getting not only one hand in as Sheika but three or four, giving Lacy no time to regroup. We could see a re-run of Calzaghe-Mitchell.

Cheers, P

Still has power though no doubt.

Please do not mention Nuthugger as I don't take that term serious. Yes I am a fan. But some have over looked the fact that Calzaghe isn't like the guys Lacy's fought some think just because Lacy has power that he should win easy as bad as I think Calzaghe would outbox him.

Because some have seen Lacy walk through punches they think he could do the same and think he just merly slaps. Slaps or not he got some power on it and throws more than one at once so wonder he's stopped 31 out of 40 with them!

I defend the opp criticism yes but I try to make a point in it that it can be bad on both sides when you say he's ducked.

God I hope it turns out like the Mitchell fight! :TU:

Your right he would go for more shots there.

There was a guy who was telling rumours about Showtime overlooking Joe trying to deal with Tarver for Lacy, where is that guy?

max, I'm not sure if you are not actually mentally retarted so I won't make that joke. You look very stupid in your answers, as was previously said. I suggest you re-read the thread more carefully for your own education. Read James post in particular. Don't read it thinking, "No I'm NOT!! " Read it thinking, "Yes I am!!" and you will hopefully understand.

However, I am 100% sure you won't so I can honestly called you mentally retarded for this thread.

Lacy is far from perfect. He knocks people out all the time, so that gets everyone excited. But he could still be outboxed as his skills and defense are not better than some of the fighters around his weight class

Where did I say you have spelling problems?

The main reason people are fearful of Joe's chances, is that he hasn't faced a dangerous, hungry fighter in their prime for a long time. Brewer and Mitchell were both in decline when Calzaghe faced them.

31 KO's out of 40 says that Calzaghe has a good KO record, not that he is a devastating puncher. There's a difference between knocking guys cold and working them over.

For instance, Howard Eastman has an excellent stoppage record, but he doesn't have 1 punch KO power, and has never actually stopped someone by dropping them from the count.

Lacy's jab and combinations are getting sharp, so Calzaghe better be focused. I really don't like what i've seen from Joe in the past 2 or 3 years with all these tedious showcase fights. his punching technique is definitely in decline and i wonder if he'll hurt his hands on Lacy's head.

I wouldn't put Too much emphasis on Lacy-Sheika (especially not one punch from that fight). Yes, Sheika showed us some things that trouble Jeff, like better than average skills and jabbing. But didn't Jeff get another conditioner after that fight to make him more flexible - it certainly looks to be paying off as his hands are getting faster and sharper.

I'm excited about this fight. makes me wish that bloody Beyer would do the good thing and unify with Kessler, with the winners to meet in a final decider. Beyer's last fight was a joke that the crowd hated

Well he walks through other oppostions punches and tries to mostly land that right. Lacy does go on about how Calzaghe merly slaps though which is stupid to say.

Sorry James I mixed you up with that Nutrition guy about the spelling.

People still expected Mitchell to give him problems and thought it could of went the distance though decline or not and he only just come off a title loss so it ain't that bad of a win. Bet people wern't saying how Mitchell was past it before the fight.

Don't know much about Brewer though.

He may not be so devastating but you can;t doubt that Joe has power in them shots though. If a non puncher threw like that they wouldn't be able to put them out like he does.

Still has power is what I'm saying though. You can throw alot of punches and still not be hurt by them.
Max, look at Ottke's ring record and ask yourself this: Can that same question be flipped and asked of Joe in regards to Ottke?
No.

Nobody has said he doesn't have any power, you're the only one here who seems to think he's this big KO artist though.

Calzaghe has respectable power, but look at his record he has 2 clean KO's in 40 wins. That is not a devastating puncher in anyones book.
