dawudbryant wrote:It might not make his record look better but thats not the point. The point is that the fight was an agreed exhibition then they go and put it as a real fight. In ufc they don't even accept the ultimate fighter show fights on the record. In boxing exhibitions aren't counted. If boxrec hasn;t added Dannys fight with Luan Krasniqi then why have they added this fight? They were both pre agreed exhibitions. If you were unaware then it is easy to see them as real fights but they both went quite easy and made it like a spar then after a few rounds the knockdowns start. Its entertaining without the fighters getting hurt.
My understanding is, the reason the bouts on the Ultimate Fighter are classed as exhibitions is because that was the only way the UFC could get around the commission reporting requirements. They tape the show in advance and didn't want the commission reporting the results of the fights (as they do for competitive bouts) before they aired.

It's not really comparable to this issue. The exhibitions on The Ultimate Fighter are still regulated by the Nevada State Athletic Commission and if you were ever in doubt as to how the bouts should be classed you could ask the Nevada State Athletic Commission who would tell you.

The only people who determine if these were real fights or not are the local commissions concerned. If they were billed as real fights, announced as such, with officials from that commission, then that's that, regardless of anything that may have been informally agreed behind the scenes. Are there any posters, programmes stating it was an exhibition? Was it announced as an exhibition? That's the only way to get the record changed, as The Law said earlier in this thread.

The Breidus fight always looked like an obvious fix. Danny, while totally washed up, has managed to shrug off actual, serious blows in his long decline, such as in his fight with Oleg Maskaev. The shots Breidus hits him with are like play punches. (Says I, from the safety of my computer.)

Absolutely fair point - but question still remains whether it was a sanctioned fight which was fixed, or an exhibition which was fixed. That's what will determine whether it goes on his record and is the point that the (respectfully) I think the OP is missing.

Thank you, someone finally who knows what they are seeing. They won't take it off his record even though its a clear fake

The thing is boxrec has no evidence of this fight actually being announced as a fight, where is the poster they asked me for? They don't have one either yet still rate this as being a fight. Yet the Williams exhibition with Luan Krasniqi which also wasn't announced as an exhibition but still was one, they don't put on Williams' record. If they want posters with the wording 'exhibition' on then why do they accept that the Krasniqi fight wasn't a fight but the Briedis one was, when they don't have posters for either?

Bro Im not going by the commission, I'm going by what Williams was told which was 'this is an exhibition'. He was told to go down in 2. He would never go down on order in a real bout, he only did it because he was told by Briedis' conman team that it was an exhibition. They then count it as a real bout. How many other times have they done that?

BOXREC still hasn't acknowledged why they count the Luan Krasniqi bout as an exhibition when it wasnt announced as one, yet they accept this Briedis fight as being real with no evidence even when I'm saying Danny himself told me he agreed to an exhibition.

Because the commission will have sent the results in from the Breidis fight but not Krasniqi. That's their evidence.

Hence why you need to provide some evidence that the Breidis fight was an exhibition and not a proper fight, otherwise they will quite rightly stick with the word of the local commission.

Why does he need to 'lose' an exhibition?

Go and look on dannys record at this fight, boxrec has it as being unsanctioned because as I was told by an administrator, they don't trust the commission. So if they don't trust them enough to say the bout was sanctioned, how can they accept their verdict on this fight being legit?

It was told to him beforehand that it was an exhibition for whatever reason they chose not to make it a real fight. And they told him to go over a few times. Don't ask me why but thats what they wanted.

Sometimes you have to do things for money that you aren't happy about. Danny has kids in private schools and needs to keep paying their expensive fees. Hes retired now though. He only accepted the Krasniqi bout because it was an exhibition and wouldn't get hurt.

Does williams work? I remember before and after the chisora fight he said he was shot, that this would be his last fight then he was doing a bodyguard course. Did he end up getting his bodyguard qualifications? Sad to see him take them later fights in his career, he must have made a fortune over the course of his career, and he Amway seemed a frugal level headed guy, surely he didn't blow it all.

I'm sure he didn't make as much as some might assume, as he never had a massive profile. But I'm also sure that he made enough that, if well invested into a few rental properties and other safe investments, he could now have a tidy little passive income that would mean he doesn't need to keep going round being an embarassing punchbag.

As I understand it from his comments a few years back he did have investments in property but lost out in the sub prime crash in '08. Whether he physically lost a lot of money or just saw a paper devaluation I haven't a clue.

Guess he made a bit of cash these last few years, I'd rather he'd have hung 'em up sooner but at least he finished on a couple of wins.

Hope that he is actually retired, he had a role in a Turkish movie a while back, maybe some hardman roles beckon?

He has property but he also has a few kids and their education is his prime objective so needed to fight to pay those big bills off. He did the security course but struggled getting work. Its who you know. He would of liked to of been body guarding important ppl by now but it didn't work out. He is looking to do more acting work.

At this stage in the game, does Danny himself really even give a shit if this fight is on his official record or not?

I'm sure Danny's kids would survive being in state school. Perhaps he should consider his own well being.

If that sounds harsh, it is, as is the reality of being punched in the head for a living.

It should be taken off because it has no place on a real professional record

Have you seen a London state school? They're not going to get a private standard of education in one of those zoo pens. I find what Danny did quite noble. He put his children's future ahead of his health. Most dads from Brixton don't even bother to stick around. To put his kids through private school, and pay the fees by enduring physical abuse, is as gallant as it gets.
