Golovkin vs Brook Sept 10
Re: Golovkin vs Brook Sept 10
...seems like GGG's team lost its focus..used to be a lot of rumours about how he was prepared to move down and fight Mayweather and I don't blame him for that, ...a lot has been said about him moving up and fighting the top guys in super middleweight...then his team claimed they wanted to unify belts...fair enough...and now coming out of the blue he will fight a welterweight
...come on, you want to be remembered as a legend and you're 35...then you're out of time and better start making the right choices...

Re: Golovkin vs Brook Sept 10
I don't mind this matchup, but I think the clash of styles favours GGG, who should extend his KO record.
Keep in mind that based on their fight night weights, Brook (163-167lb) is only one weight class smaller than GGG (168-173lb), not two, and will only be giving away 1.5 inches in height and 1 inch in reach. Fighting at this higher weight, their fight night weights may not be too different.

It is what it is.
GGG and Brook both involved in long running negotiations with opponents elsewhere, got fed up and made the fight in 48 hours.
Best fighter Brook has ever faced and GGG probably getting a number 1 or 2 payday.
WIN WIN for the fighters.
For the fans. Good news for Brook fans he's got a huge fight.
For GGG unable to get BJS or Canelo and a good fight before he can.

This - whatever the rights and wrongs, I like that they have both proved they can negotiate and make a fight, it shows a lot about a lot of other camps. Brook could easily have fought another patsy in the UK for decent money, or made the Vargas fight. There can be no ulterior motive for stepping up to fight GGG, I mean are people seriously saying his earnings will be sufficiently higher to warrant this? It appears to be more pure sporting competition to me, a guy looking to challenge himself rather than any cynical attempt to make some money and come out of it with his WW title. That makes no sense to me at all based on the danger Golovkin presents against the actual benefit to Brook.

people should just be happy that one of the most athletic boxers fights one of the if not the biggest puncher in all of boxing.

Brook is gonna beat the brakes off GGG in London & then GGG will be washed up from there on just RIPE for Canelo in 2017
Home Turf goes to Brook and the ref will be looking out Brook as well...its target practice on GGG's face he will look like an old man in there with
Brook. September will be the last of this version of GGG. Listen to the Master!

Fukc you Dberry. Lara fought Paul Williams, Canelo, Trout, Vanes M., Zaveck, Rodriguiz, Angulo, Hernandez, Molina.............Lara has been in world title fights and big fights much more than Brook. Brook fought Carson Jones twice (who?) and Brook. Bring facts to debate other than your stupid bullshit insults you fornicating moron.dberry wrote:You are an idiot.Badhusker wrote:

Brook is used to being the bigger harder hitting man, that will evaporate when he fights GGG. It's going to be a rough night.jezzamundo wrote:I don't mind this matchup, but I think the clash of styles favours GGG, who should extend his KO record.

Insults is something I rarely do, unless it is done to me first, and you had it coming. So to answer your latest insult, fuk you and the horse you rode in on. Now, lets communicate without them like adults.dberry wrote:Badhusker wrote:Fukc you Dberry. if Lara is so well known then why does he command so little money buy way of purse? The UK, it would be fair to say, like their boxing just a bit more than most other countries, out of the 80 million residents how many would know that Lara even exists, how many would know who Kell Brook is by mention of name? It doesn't matter who Lara has fought, no one outside of hardcore boxing fans know who he is, and out of the hardcore fans that do only a few could give a flying fvck about him.
To reiterate, you are, demonstrably, an idiot.
Guess what, the world of boxing does not revolve around the 80 million people in the UK. It would be much more accurate to say it is followed by more people in the US, where 300+ million people reside. Worldwide, when you have someone like Lara, although I admit is not extremely well known worldwide, when you fight top names from around the world it gives you more exposure. Like I said, Brook has fought one semi-big name, Porter. Other than that he has basically done nothing other than verbally spar with Khan on social media. Even most hardcore boxing fans can't think of more than 3 of his opponents in his entire career.

I don't like bullies GGG is fighting someone from two weight classes below himself, Brook is the hero here and a good fighter I wish Brook all the best. GGG ought to challenge himself and move up two weight divisions and fight Kovalev, and Ward, etc.

Why not 4 weight classes and challenge Fury/Wlad/Joshua/Wilder ?victor-romeo wrote:I don't like bullies GGG is fighting someone from two weight classes below himself, Brook is the hero here and a good fighter I wish Brook all the best. That would be as much of a stretch as Brook jumping 4 weight classes to fight at LHW. GGG is cherry picking by fighting a much smaller man Brook, and I don't respect that.boxing_rocks wrote:Why not 4 weight classes and challenge Fury/Wlad/Joshua/Wilder ?victor-romeo wrote:I don't like bullies GGG is fighting someone from two weight classes below himself, Brook is the hero here and a good fighter I wish Brook all the best. GGG could move up in weight like Hopkins, Sugar Ray Leonard, and Lomachenko have for bigger paydays over the course of their careers. Instead he is just milking the KO'ing nobody game. Which seems to be lucrative for him and will probably result in couple of good cash out fight's for him.
In no way at this point do I see GGG on the level of fighter with all time great middleweights Marvin Hagler, and Bernard Hopkins. Although Hopkins did go the route of fighting many nobodies during his historic Middleweight reign.

Some of you guys talk like its GGG fault for the top fighters in his division not wanting to sign up to step in the ring with him. GGG didn't call out Brook. Brook is the only fighter willing to fight him.

Re: Golovkin vs Brook Sept 10
Did Hagler ever move up? Brook wanted a good purse which is why he took Golovkin fight in the U.K. Golovkin (the same way as Hagler and Monzon) doesn't want to move up. He wants the remaining belt.victor-romeo wrote:That would be as much of a stretch as Brook jumping 4 weight classes to fight at LHW. Why has Lara's management failed to contact k2, only a phone call but that call hasn't been made, seems Lara is the same as Eubanks, a time wasting publicity seeker

Which means that you are full of it. Who worth mentioning at 160 and under REALLY wants to fight Golovkin?Badhusker wrote:Biggest load of bullcrap I have heard lately.DrunkenBoxer wrote:Some of you guys talk like its GGG fault for the top fighters in his division not wanting to sign up to step in the ring with him. Re: Golovkin vs Brook Sept 10
A year ago Lara was publicly calling out GGG. Abel Sanchez turned down the fight and admitted it. To think that no fighter other than Brook will fight GGG from 147 to 160 is laughable. GGG says he will go to 168 for a big fight. (if his name is not Ward) Maybe they need to put up the money. No one knows what they are offering. Here is an article from Last year, when Sanchez said Lara hasn't done enough to deserve a GGG fight. In the meantime, GGG fights guys that are far less known and accomplished than Lara.boxing_rocks wrote:Which means that you are full of it. Lara's team NEVER contacted Loefler. Why is that if they want the fight? Lara is just looking for publicity.Badhusker wrote:A year ago Lara was publicly calling out GGG. Re: Golovkin vs Brook Sept 10
I don't blame Golovkin at all for taking the fight. Will be one of his biggest paydays and he will slap around a Welterweight.
Re: Golovkin vs Brook Sept 10
You obviously didn't read what I read, or the article. Leoffler brought Lara and Mora's names to Sanchez for potential fights last year. Maybe he did because Lara was publicly calling GGG out? It really doesn't matter if Lara contacted him or not. If they publicly say they are not interested why would they waste their time contacting them? Do lesser known boxers often send contracts to the champion at his weight? I would love nothing more than GGG to beat down Lara to shut him up, but GGG's team (Sanchez) clearly said he didn't want the fight. You can read into that whatever you want, but it is a fact. Lara is more well known and a tougher challenge than quite a few of GGG's recent opponents. His style is what they don't like, imo.boxing_rocks wrote:Lara's team NEVER contacted Loefler.
