Vasquez opponent Diaz. What's his deal?

So my modem is slow and I dont surf on hi fi like most of yinz. Tell me about Vasquez opponent Diaz. Can he fight? Is he Mexican? I'm sure Sammy will steamroll his candy *ss either way!

He won Olympic gold in 2008 (though his semifinal victory was highly controversial), he's Dominican, his only loss was to Lamont Peterson in a very competitive fight, he's definitely on the small side for 147.

Sammy should beat him, but I think Diaz is better than the original opponent Collazo.

I agree he is definitely a better test than Collazo, who can't even be considered much of a stepping stone or gate keeper anymore. Vasquez showed he isn't one to over-look, because Peterson is good. He has a disadvantage, and that is his height and reach at the weight. He is giving up about 4-5 inches of height and reach. Good test for Sammy V. though.
