I didn't realize that this was being fought at CW. I initially saw Kovalev's weight and was like 'oh shit Sergey!"

It's not. They both weighed in under the LHW limit yesterday. the weights that were mentioned are the fight day weights...

He's no chance. I just picked up even-money on Kov inside 6. Went heavy.

Good luck on your bet Ricky. I would have picked over 6.

Degenerative gambling, much like girls spreading their legs, is somehow seen as an accomplishment nowadays. It isn't. One can only hope for gamblers the merciless destruction that Kovalev is known to deliver in the ring. What he does, now that is an accomplishment.

On a lighter note, I love all of you regardless. Except Bnovelist. I'd refer him to Nurse Ratchet but she's busy guarding the door to the Pit.

Chilemba looks like Sergey's toughest opponent. He is landing good shots. Even after a heavy KD in rd 7 and being hurt in 8, he had a very good rd 10.

The fight is over. Clear win by Kova. Chilemba initiated an exchange in the 12th, and Sergey took it. Chilemba was hurt but withstood. Kovalev's chin looks solid.

Fair play to Chilemba, showed a great chin and has improved technically from what i seen in his bouts with Bellew.

On that performance I'm not sure i'm so confident with my pick of Kovalev to beat Ward.

I am not so confident that Ward would look better against Chilemba.

chilemba is a seasoned fighter he knows how to tuck up for a punch to make the subtle movements to avoid full contact. The shot he got cught with he took his eye of his plan for a split second.Chilemba can make any fighter look like that including Ward i agree.Still think Krusher took this lightly which was madness.

I'm not either. Chilemba is a good fighter in his own right with a lot of veteran ring savvy and he's a tough guy who's never been stopped. Kovalev still won the fight clearly. I think some people are reading a bit too much into this and thinking that this somehow affects the Ward vs Kovalev fight differently. It really doesn't. Ward doesn't fight like Chilemba, and we still don't know if Ward can take Kovalev's shots or how he'd handle being hurt.

Ward will definitely be looking to maul Kovalev on the inside a lot and not give him room to land his shots I'm sure, but Kovalev is a big, strong guy in his own right. Ward is often able to bully people on the inside, I kinda doubt he'll be able to do that all night with Kovalev. Kovalev is strong enough that he'll back Ward up off of him whether Ward likes it or not.

I've said many times that Ward will beat Kovalev, I'm more sure of it than ever after that performance.

Kovalev didn't look like he was any less prepared than usual to me. The trouble he had in this fight was because of Chilemba, and the fact that Chilemba can hold his own with the best of 'em.

Elusive spoiler Chilemba was the right opponent to prepare Kovalev for Ward.

Brand is NOT the right opponent to prepare Ward for Kovalev, he should have taken a risk and fought Shabranskyy.

Books CLEANED UP on Chilemba going the distance. Kovalev went from -400 to -1000 to win by stoppage. Books rejoice.

Chilemba is a tough dude.

I wish I'd have had some coin to drop on Kovalev winning a decision. I was one of the few people picking Kovalev by decision. Even used a 3x Bonus on it in the PTBF game.

Chilemba got caught, because Kovalev was concentrating on the body in that round, and Chilemba was feeling the pain. The punch which dropped Chilemba was one of the few power punches to the head in that round.

its a distance fight. I'd favor Kovalev. More active than Ward. I don't think there is anyone at 175 out boxing Kovalev in a distance fight. For the time being anyways.
