Can't of been far off, seem to remember a lot of boxing people dying around that time, was quite a strange time

Guys like him and Ward who had great heart despite not being the best of the best always get my respect.

You can take a good heart, and slightly above average skills and parlay them way beyond your pay grade.



You can have great skills and knowledge, (A certain HW hailing from England comes to mind) and below average heart, and become a great disappointment.

Now please put this in perspective. When I say "below average heart" I mean specifically for a pro boxer...which probably puts you a ways up on the general humanity scale. Going in and giving and taking a beating takes you to be in all the way with your spirit. When you've had all the training, read all the books, listened to your trainer and find your heart is only half way in....you are going to disappoint those who knew/know what you were blessed with.
