So will it be Skelton or Williams?
Williams excuses that he didn't train for Harrison because it was an easy fight are rather weird, ...had he been inshape and stopped Harrison it would have done wonders for Williams career, as it was he was only marginly better than Harrison that night. I think Williams vs Skelton may well go down to who wants it more and I think Skelton is the stronger mentally... Danny will have to be in the mindset he was in against Tyson to win this...
It might have helped Danny's career but the idea of doing next to no training and eating whatever he felt like for a few weeks at a time where he would normally have to be making big sacrifices was obviously too hard to resist. Thoroughly unproffesional but not all that surprising. I always believed that Danny knew he could beat Audley even on his worst day. And he proved it.

This is true, but then I never imagined Audley would look that poor against Danny. I don't see Skelton standing off pawing with the jab.Max Molyneux wrote:Maybe but we can;t be sure.jamesmcdonnell wrote:Danny finds a way to lose this to an inferior fighter.
Most people expected Fraudly to beat him on points but we got suprised because of the hype it got.
Depends what Danny shows up.

Amen brother!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bigg Matt will break his heart, Williams will pull out around the 8th win an excuse, or take a fall. Skelton is too oppressive, and he will make the demons in Danny's head tell him he cannot take the abuse for 12. He'll find a way out.Goz wrote:I'll go for Skelton (T)KO 7 in a way similar to that with which Sam dealt with Williams. Going right through him....
How can you question Danny's heart in the ring??
Up numorous times against both Sam and Vitali, suriving the early Tyson onslaught, the comeback against Mark Potter, Danny has never quit in the ring and I can't see Skelton doing it.
He may overpower an overweight Williams and force a stoppage but it won't be Danny that stops himself fighting. I still hold true to the belief that an in shape Williams is fringe world class and if he can get himself into any sort of shape then he will have far too much for Skelton.

Williams seems incapable of getting himself in shape these days. His weight has just gone up and up over recent years, in his two most important fights since Tyson, he's turned up like a negative of the michelin man, yet we're supposed to imagine he's going to turn back the clock for Skelton, excuse my skepticism, but I imagine he will enter the ring at around 280.
Personally I think Williams was reasonably fit for the Klitschko fight but never got the chance to show it. Sure he was heavy but I bet if you'd have put Skelton in there instead of Vitali you'd have seen a one-sided beating the other way around. Imagine what Klitschko would have done to Skelton, I doubt he'd have seen out the first round.
For the Audley fight it wasn't a case of being in poor shape, is was no shape at all. He could barely put a single combination together at any point in the fight. As unreliable as Danny is I just don't believe he could possibly bring that attitude to a fight with Skelton.
You've definitely got to punch the fight out of Skelton. With Audley it's a case of making him stand up for 12 rounds, the job is almost done with that alone.

Its his fitness and workrate that can win this one for Skelton - that, and his crowding style, which wont allow the more refined Williams the room he needs to work.silkov wrote:People knock Skelton but he's always in shape, comes to fight and has a good workrate... plus he's actually older than me so all power to him if he wins this!...![]()

Skelton is a clean liver who is hungry for success. These factors alone should overcome Danny's undoubted advantages in power and boxing ability.

im in agreement with stujones on this one: if danny comes in under 18st than its him but alot over that and its skelton - on points tho....... i cant see skelton stopping before the tenth. I mean it took him eleven rounds to get rid of sprott and all fairness he didnt really hurt sprott - just broke his heart.

I'm not saying Danny lacks courage but Skelton is I think the one who will come in fitter and be more focused and confident mentally... there are just too many questions marks about Dannys mental attitude. I thought Danny was going to be really up for the Harrison fight, look what happened!... at the end of the day I have the feeling that when Danny is saying how fit he is for this one he is trying to convince himself as much as everyone else...Lenny Albert wrote:How can you question Danny's heart in the ring??

Williams was about 20 pounds too heavy against Klitchenko... Skelton, had he fought Klitchenko would have been much fitter and busier, and would have forced his way onto the inside and nulified Klitchenkos reach.Kilburn wrote:Personally I think Williams was reasonably fit for the Klitschko fight but never got the chance to show it. I really think Skelton is underrated, the main questions for me is if he can take a couple of really good shots, if he can then I don't see many heavyweights out there who can beat him... how many heavies today have Skeltons fitness and can keep up with his work rate??......
